Daylight saving time offers a more harmless environment; it decreases crime rates that usually happen during the evening. As criminals often plot their malicious acts at night and crimes are heavily influenced by lighting conditions, DST simply prevents offenders’ chances of committing assault or theft (Source C). If the federal government continues to regulate DST, protection for individuals is more guaranteed. Going home from work will be much safer, neighborhoods will be at peace, and families will sleep safe and sound. Daylight saving time offers a huge advantage for it eliminates danger, and instead employs security.
The school should have other necessary information of each child going on the trip, including dietary information, allergies, any other medical conditions and also if they suffer from travel sickness. (extra bags must be brought in by an adult). Also, the school should ensure that there is a suitable adult-child ratio and that all supervisors, including parent are DBS checked and competent for the purpose. More importantly, there must be sufficient insurance cover for all participants of the trip as well as accidents and emergency policies and procedures,
Lisa mcculloch 30/1/14 unit 25 section 2 2.1 Safeguarding children and young people is so important because how children are treated can affect them their whole lives. Every child or young person has the right to live their life without being neglected or abused in any way. We have a duty of care to protect them. If they are protected they are more likely to grow up to be well rounded confident adults. 2.2 The importance of the children and young persons centred approach is to try and stop abused children and young people falling through the cracks, this has happened in the past when people have been to different hospitals or moved house.
By doing this it will help to stop the alterations of light levels that we are creating and it wont hurt the environment. By doing something about it it can easily solve a problem that wont be added to our list of environmental pollution problems. It will just be one less thing to worry
By following this procedures are made, for example writing incidents and accidents in books to make people aware of what happened, how and why. Its helps them to think of ways to resolve issues which may need to be addressed and reported. The childcare act 2006 also does this as it focuses on the children’s well-being. Within the legislation it enforces the every child matters program. Safety is one of the points as they ensure the safety of child is kept and no harm shall come of them
UNIT 9 ASSIGNMENT Some of the pros of moving to the office-based electronic health records would be a reduction of human errors. People would not have to rely on illegible or incorrect files. It reduces the amount of human contact with the records and can cut down on costly mistakes. The safety and security that electronic health records offers is also an advantage. Paper files can be lost, damaged, stolen, or subjected to natural disasters.
UNIT 4: Keeping Children Safe In a childcare setting it is vital to maintain a safe and healthy environment. Five types of legislation that would be followed by a practitioner are: Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Childcare Act 2006, Food Safety Act 1990, RIDDOR 1995, and COSHH Regulations 2002. The Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974: It provides essential information, training and supervision to enable safety of the environment. For childcare settings it ensures that policies and procedures are in place and that reports are made if anything unsafe occurs in the setting, for example using an accident book with accurate information. Play workers are responsible for ensuring that the provisions of the Health and Safety policy are adhered to at all times (http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/univ/childcare/playscheme/policy/safety.html Last Accessed 20/10/13).
Make sure the areas have enough room for the children to be engage in the areas activities. Children not aware of the dangers in classroom and outdoor area, by going over the safety precautions in a manner it won’t be over bearing or intimating to children. Having them be involved in making the rules of safety in classroom/outdoor area of what are do and don’t. Make sure first aid kit is available and ready just in case if a student have an accident in classroom. It’s a big plus for me to learn more about what I can do for the safety of my children.
CU1521 Support children and young people’s health and safety | | | 1.1 Describe the factors to take into account when planning healthy and safe indoor and outdoor environments and services. At my setting we take into account a variety of factors when we plan the indoor and outdoor environment and services. Before setting up the environment it is important that the following is considered and checked: * Staff – Child Ratio * Age of children * Ability of children * Development stage of children * Individual needs * Outcomes of activity * Potential risks For Example: If i was setting up the outside area for eight 2-3 year olds i would need to ensure that there were 2 members of staff available to go into the garden with them and that the toys/ activities set up would be appropriate for their age. I would check the outside area for any potential risks and minimise these as much as possible. | 1.2 Explain how health and safety is monitored and maintained and how people in the work setting are made aware of risks and hazards and encouraged to work safely.
Write a report that assesses the hazards identified in the children’s nursery used during the risk assessment as a health and social care setting. Risk assessment is important for any setting because it makes sure the setting is safe for children, staff and parents, it is an Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare requirement and also is good practice. A risk assessment identifies a hazard which might cause harm, it makes sure that the risk attached to it is acceptable and lastly putting appropriate control measures in place if the risk is not acceptable. A hazard is defined as anything that has the potential to cause harm. A hazard may be a substance, a piece of equipment or a work procedure or, in the childcare sector, a child’s condition.
