When Gatsby was younger, before he was deployed for active duty in the Second World War, he was stationed in Louisville, Kentucky. This is where Gatsby and Daisy meet for the first time, however, after being deployed Daisy gets married to a rich man and leaves Gatsby. When he returns from the war he spends the next years trying to do nothing more than to start Daisy and his love affair where they left off. This in turn forces Gatsby to do whatever it is that he can to become rich, and become a part of the society that Daisy has been a part of her whole life. Gatsby takes things
The Great Gatsby is a novel by the American author F. Scott Fitzgerald. It's about a man who has fallen in love with a woman, but when they meet, they are unable to be together at the time. A few years later they meet again and Daisy has married a man called Tom. Gatsby then tries everything to get her to fall for him and leave Tom. He ends up buying a house close by where Tom and Daisy live and has parties every night in her honor to try and impress her.
The scene quickly changes to Gatsby’s mansion and in one of his parties in which Nick attends and ‘’was one of the few guests who had actually been invited’’. This also shows that Gatsby expends all this money on a party for people he may not know who have merely invited themselves and are welcomed simply for coming. One point of view is that he may be doing all this for Daisy to attract her in and show how rich and well-known he has become in New-York so that she would leave Tom and be reunited with him. At this point of the chapter we find Nick change from a spectator to a participator. During this chapter and most of the story, we see through Nick’s perspective of the party.
He works to become one highly respected in society to impress and gain back his love, Daisy. Throwing huge parties, having colleagues and friends over to his mansion to hangout and having out of the norm fancy dinner parties. He moves to a small house in West Egg which is near to Tom and Daisy Buchanan who live on East egg. He goes to their home for dinner soon after moving where he first meets Jordan Baker, a professional athlete who is friends with Daisy. As the evening passes on, Nick hears a rumour from Jordan that Tom is cheating on his wife Daisy and that almost everyone knows about the affair.
Gatsby fell in love with Daisy almost immediately after meeting her. Gatsby was attracted to Daisy's wealth and charm. He lied to Daisy about his past in an attempt to convince Daisy he deserved a girl like her. Daisy and Gatsby's love got cut short by Gatsby having to serve in the war. The story is told by Nick Carraway, a wealthy stock broker. When he moves into Long Island he meets Jay Gatsby, the great, who lives next door to Nick in a mansion and throws splendid parties for fancy New Yorkers.
