Values that were instilled in me in my youth, l am passing to my child because I feel that they are very significant in establishing one's self and one's own personal values.The most significant values taught to me by my family were unity, communication and education. Family values are values especially of a traditional or conservative kind which are held to promote the sound functioning of the family and to strengthen the fabric of society. My family watched me grow from infancy to adulthood, guiding me with good values. A child needs direction from childhood to adulthood to become a productive person. I was taught morals and to be respectful of others at an early age. Saying “yes sir” and “yes ma’am” when addressing someone shows respect, but today’s youth don’t seem to have those words in their vocabulary. They address most with a simple “hey” and a usual response to a question would be “yea” instead of yes ma’am. My parents worked to provide me with a home and things I needed but not always all that I wanted. I did not understand then how not always getting it all would prove to be valuable asset to my future. I have learned to work hard for my wants as an adult. This has taught me great appreciation for hard work. My parents spent quality time with me. They managed to attend all of my school activities while working full time jobs. We sat together nightly for family dinners and used conversation to find out about how everyone’s day went. We were involved with each other. They did not need cell phones to find out where I was. On Sunday’s you could find us outside involved in a neighborhood baseball game or just hanging out together. Education was clearly defined and expected in my home. I have always been taught your education is the one thing no one can take from you. Good grades came before a social life. After school you came home and finished
