Elements of Religious Traditions Elements of Religious Traditions The following discussion will follow the Elements of Religious Traditions. In the following we will look into the relationship with the Divine. We will explore relationship with sacred time. We will also take a look at the relationship with the sacred space or the natural world and the relationship with each other. We will try to identify the key issues in each and will include examples from the text and other scholarly texts as we see fit. Whether your belief is in a single god, multiple gods and goddesses or something much more tangible like science, the relationship with a higher power seems to be inevitable to the Human species. Each person has a belief in a system of laws and guidelines set forth by a particular religious system. For example; in the Christian, Judaism, and Muslim religions believe in a single god. The relationship between an individual and the one god, in the previously mentioned religions are dictated mainly by the written texts. These texts are the Bible, the Torah, and the Koran respectively. A relationship is a major part of all religious beliefs, because without the divine communication, there is no divine connection. The handling of day to day issues becomes difficult because the faith of the individual is being tested on a daily basis. The fellowship and relationship with a god, is what helps him or her live an honest light and in the light of god. Without a constant thought that a higher being is watching, people tend to fall out of the faith and break their faith. Sacred time is the “time of eternity” (Molloy, 2010, pg 43) The things that we go through every day activities and our schedule, rule how we use the clock that rules our life. Sacred time is used for an individual to become better acquainted with their god. These times are put aside and usually consist of
