Morality and Religion A person’s morals are instilled in them by family, friends, and environment. Religion comes as one grows older, typically following the teachings of the family church. Thou Shall Not Kill, one of the Ten Commandments (rules of being a true Christian), given to us by God. How to determine if any murder is immoral, first I will examine if all forms of taking another person’s life are murder. Morals are what we abide by to determine right and wrong. I will show how someone can have high morals without believing in God. At the core of all humans, we have the same common morals. Lastly, I will compare different religions, find their commonalities, and show how not only our likes but our differences can aid us in finding a solution to a moral disagreement.…show more content…
However, humans start to learn about morals from their family unit, even before one starts to learn from the family church. The connection between morality and religion appears to show that people believe that moral truths require a religious foundation, or can best be explained by God's existence, or by an action assumed to be by God. Moral arguments for God's existence is argued constantly between believers and non-believers. Moral arguments are both important and interesting. They are interesting because evaluating whether they are legitimate requires one to be practical and attentive to each philosophical issue. They are important because of their significance in popular arguments for religious belief. The Bible teaches that everyone knows God because God has revealed himself to all (Romans 1:19).
