Learners are often called upon to make small, subtle movements to improve their alignment. Over time, this will increase learners’ level of comfort in their own body. This can lead to improved posture and greater self-confidence. It makes the body more flexible and helps learners relax even in the midst of a stress stricken environment. By letting our minds just wonder without any direction allows it to just relax and observe from a distance. By allowing this exercise on a regular basis our mind will learn to become still and stable allowing us with a clear sense of knowing without and confusion. Peace, serenity, and loving-kindness deepen and become more apparent in our relationships and balance our physiology (Dacher, 2006). Unity consciousness is the final level of psychospiritual flourishing that allows us to gain the inner healing resources. The loving-kindness of an open heart and the wisdom of an open mind will take us toward sustained health, happiness, and wholesomeness (Dacher, 2006).
Another factor as to why people said that enjoyment was what encouraged them to participate in physical activity could be because with some sports, especially team sports, enjoyment can be gained through developing friendships. This means that if they are enjoying themselves while exercising, they are often having a good time, share a few laughs with one another, and motivate each other to succeed. Either way, by socialising with other people while participating in physical activity, can assist in enjoying physical activity. From the survey we did of the school leavers (18-25 year olds) we found that 80% of the girls participated in physical activity for their health. A reason for this could be that they want to maintain their body image, keep themselves fit and active, rather than put on weight.
There are many activities that may be regarded as leisure activities such as: Swimming, walking, football and other sports, reading, listening to music and craft making etc Participation in leisure activities aids the wellbeing of individuals in many ways. For example it gives individuals an enjoyable and fun activity to take part in, in their free time that is controlled and of their choice and not dictated to by employers, family etc. It can also be very beneficial to individual’s physical wellbeing if it involves some form of exercise and moving around and there are many studies to show that the improvement of physical wellbeing and mental wellbeing are very closely linked i.e. a reduction in stress levels. Many individuals choose to take part in leisure activities so that they become more socially active and less isolated as it can often lead to an increase in friendship circles, a sense of belonging and a boost to overall self-esteem and confidence.
