By controlling the pain we enable Mrs. Thomas to have the opportunity to get up and go out and do things that she enjoys for as long as she is able, instead of being cooped up in her bedroom with the time she has left wasting away. I would recommend bringing in physical therapy and occupational therapy at this time. They would both examine the client and her environment and create individualized plans of care for the client. Physical therapy would create an exercise program to help restore and maintain Mrs. Thomas’s maximum functional abilities throughout the cancer process. They may suggest and move things in the house to optimize her functional ability and to conserve the most energy.
EBT1 Task 3-Research Integration and Outcome Evaluation A1- Preoperative Hair Removal As a circulating nurse a daily and very routine practice is preoperative hair removal for several types of surgical cases. Preoperative hair removal is a common source that contributes to postoperative surgical site infections. Currently hair removal is done to prevent interference with the surgical wound, closure of the surgical wound, surgical tapes and dressings, and to prevent patient discomfort when removing adhesive dressings (Adisa, Lawal, Adejuyibe, 2010.) A study evaluating hair removal with a razor versus with depilatory cream done by Adisa, Lawal, Adejuvibe in 2010, showed that postoperative wound infections are related to the presence and degree of skin injuries obtained during hair removal which is commonly done with a razor. Current CDC guidelines suggest that hair removal should not be performed unless “the hair at or around the incision will interfere with the operation” (Mangram, Horan, Pearson, Silver, & Jarvis, 1999, p.266) A2a,b,c- Basis for Practice, Rationale, Explanation The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) supports the practice and development of perioperative nurses.
It is very important to communicate in my work place as there is 6 girls in one office doing the same job and we need to know that we are all doing it the same way and the right way. We also work closely with Social Workers and Occupational Therapists so we must communicate clearly with them at all times in order to maintain our working relationship. If we don’t communicate properly at all times we might end up doing things differently which in time would cause lots of confusion. We also speak to TCES, the company that we order the equipment from on a daily basis, if we did not communicate with them then the equipment could be wrong or might not be delivered at all. 1.2 Communication in the workplace is vital.
Common Skin Diseases Cosmetology can be entwined with medicine, especially when it comes to skin care, so doing a research paper on common skin diseases is a great topic for a cosmetology paper. Make sure you cover skin diseases that can affect beauty in some way, focusing your research in the area of dermatology. Remember that it's still a cosmetology paper, so don't get too technical with medical terminology. Hair Growth The subject of what makes hair grow at different rates in different people is a perfect topic for a cosmetology paper. Hair growth varies from person to person based on genetic makeup, age, race, and even gender, so there's a lot of research available on this topic, and you can do some of it yourself.

For this piece we were allowed to choose to make what ever we wanted as long as we told our professor about it first and showed her a sketch of it in our sketchpads. I chose to make a vase for my mother. I thought at first it was not going to be hard but I would soon realize later in my journal entries just how challenging making a vase is. I started off by using the techniques I was shown to build up the vase. When
