Assignment 3 Corporate Governance and Ethical Responsibility Research Paper Lateefah A. Muhammad, J.D. Professor of Legal Studies 1) Determine at least three (3) different internal and external stakeholders that Dr. DoRight might have to deal with on a daily basis at the hospital. Hospital facilities are important in the well-being of patients’ health. People attend hospitals in a fragile state, trusting that the staff of the institution will act in their best interest, and that their judgment will be base on ethics, professionalism, and training. Their medical expertise and training are crucial. Dr. DoRight has been hired as the President of the “Universal Human Care Hospital”. He oversees all departments with over 5000 employees and over 20,000 patients at the medical facility. He has been given an enormous responsibility to ensure to its internal and external stakeholders that all departments function efficiently and patients’ care are being met. Stakeholders are individuals who are involved and, have vested interest in the success of an organization, such as a hospital. Dr. Do Right has to interact in daily basis with the hospitals’ many internal and external stakeholders, such as, investors, employees, customers and suppliers. His decisions affect not only patients care, but also the interest of each member of the hospital no matter what level they are. Three Internal stakeholders that Dr. DoRight has to deal with on a daily basis are Patient Advocacy; Quality Assurance, and Legal Dept. Additionally, three External stakeholders that Dr. DoRight has to deal with on a daily basis consist of JACHO review Board, Patients, and Numerous Community Organizations. “The primary goal of a corporate enterprise from the viewpoint of its shareholders is to maximize profits and enhance stakeholder value”(investopedia).
