Continuing Education Shuna Boodram II English 121 Vanessa Martin January 5, 2011 “Be All That You Can Be” That’s a saying we have all heard. What’s left for those of us without education? I was born near the end of the baby boomer era. We were the driving force in America’s second industry age and tech-revolution. A lot of us went to college and some of us took up trades in construction, the service industries, computers and corporations. This was America’s push for success for three decades. Now we are in an era where we have to learn our way out of recession and into progression. Somewhere in the last two decades most of America forgot about education. I was curious to seek a path of something different, an avenue perhaps leading me to a better future than what my current position was offering. I have been considering returning to school for several years. I have always felt that furthering my education would be a key tool towards the level of success that I define as the “American Dream.” Whether I decide to venture off into something new, or take the knowledge that I will have learned and apply it to the skills that I already possess, I know that furthering my education will serve as a benefit to my future no matter what I choose to do. However I know that returning to school will benefit me in many ways. It will complete me as an individual, businessman, and as a father. I can proudly tell my children that it's never too late to accomplish a goal. Not to mention the satisfaction that I will have gained knowing that I pushed myself to go back to school for my degree.
