Uganda T. Birston May 9, 2015 Why college education is important to me My goal is to become an Early Childhood Educator, and without a college degree, that would not be possible. I strongly believe that having a college education will allow you to reach dreams and set goals that you would never be able to reach otherwise. Education is important to me because it will allow me to be able to provide for my family better in the future and to help my children see that continuing your education equals success. Connie McBride AC0707685 Writing Assessment EN110 Achieving Academic Excellence “Why College is Important to Me” Working menial jobs to get through high school really didn’t give me the push to jump right into college. I tried a few classes here and there and it was something that seemed to be a temporary thing to occupy time. I was young and didn’t realize what college was going to mean to my adulthood challenges. After finally accepting a full time job that could lead to a career for some time it became clear that college would have been a good choice for me to have been successful. I also think an excellent education is crucial because it will affect my family in one way or another. It will benefit the family I have now, and the family will have in the future. I hope to support my family financially, with the great job education will help me get, and by being a role model and educator to the children I will raise. I want to be able to answer questions my children will have, to give them knowledge and a decent education for their futures too. An education would also impact the family I have now because a nice education would give me a chance to go out into the world, get a good education somewhere to live.

College is the very first step to becoming successful and these days a college education is not something that you should have; it is something that should be essential. That being said, it is nearly impossible to get an excellent paying job without a college degree. I have learned that college is not just a choice; it is the start of a lifelong journey, one that could potentially shape and determine future choices, decisions and purposes. As opposed to generations of the past, high school graduates today are unable to obtain the number of high-paying jobs that were once available.
