Master's Prepared Nurse Interview The purpose of this paper is to interview a master’s prepared nurse and get more knowledge of the role they play in their career. I chose this person because I work with her in the critical care setting where she is our clinical resource to go to when questions may arise. She portrays to have lots of knowledge and experience in the nursing profession to share with others. By working with this individual, I have learned that she is an exceptionally energetic and compassionate person, portrays excellent critical care thinking skills, and has a passion for being a nurse in general. After high school, she started her college career at Eastern Kentucky University where her major at this time was undecided.

Success will be achieved by identifying the challenges and developing strategies to overcome the challenges. “Adult graduate students often must negotiate with families, employers, coworkers, and friends to establish priorities, time commitments, and responsibilities” (Polson, 2003, p. 63). By finding balance between my personal life, work, and graduate studies, I will obtain self-fulfillment and advance my career and salary while being a positive role model for my children. Graduate Study Challenges and Strategies for Personal Success Pursuing graduate studies can be an intimidating task because the assignments, research, and projects can be overwhelming. Students must find balance between their personal lives, work, and studies.
I watched the nurse’s and talked with them about what they did and how they did it (and how much money they made). That was when I decided what I wanted to do. I wanted to be an ER Nurse. Prior to becoming a nurse, I had the opportunity to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist. I felt that would benefit me as I went to nursing school.
First you should major in subject areas that interest and feel passionate about it; consequently, it will make you engage fully with the material you are learning and marketable in a competitive workforce. Beside you should learn who you are, what you love, and where you find yourself good at. Also parents should not interfere and force you to choose a major you don’t like. Even if the you don’t know what you want to be, you can still determine your skills and interest by looking at your academic history, especially in the challenging and comprehensive classes in which you perform well. Moreover you may also reflect on your past experiences, jobs you’ve done to determine your major.

Once completing my bachelors of science in nursing, I can continue my long-term goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. The skills required of a nurse practitioner are skills that I have been practicing throughout my career as a nurse. I will listen to my patient’s needs and concerns, and provide them with information in a way they can understand it. I will have better critical thinking and reasoning skills for when problems or situations arise. I will have the knowledge and information needed to diagnose and treat.
