Between October and the beginning to middle of March it can be very cold. Spring and summer are the best opportunity for work. In the winter months I would usually go work with a friend at his business so I was always busy and was guaranteed income. My friend owns a drive thru convenient store. My friend “Iyad” is from the Middle East, Palestine to be exact. As I had a problem communicating with the Spanish guys on the roof, my communication problems off the roof were just as bad. Again non verbal communication played a very important role in helping me maintain interpersonal friendships at my workplaces. I started roof construction when I was eighteen years old. I started off working on commercial buildings. It wasn’t until I started doing residential roofing that I was working with primarily Spanish people. At first the experience was kind of bad. I had no idea how to communicate with these people. All that went through my mind was “How am I supposed to install a roof on someone’s house with people I can’t even talk to.” This is where nonverbal communication came into play. While doing nonverbal communication we were able to learn what different things meant in another language. For example a nail in Spanish is Clavo. Before I knew how to say it I was making crazy gestures with my hands trying my hardest to get the message
