SCI/162 Chronic Disease: Cervical Cancer The disease that I chose to do my assessment on was cervical cancer. I chose this disease because I find it interesting and a little scary. Cervical cancer is when the cells that line the cervix develop pre-cancerous changes that turn into cancer. If abnormal cells are recognized before it turns to cancer, there are treatments that can be done such as freezing the cells and removing them. There are two types of cervical cancer squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.
Asbestos leads to cellular damage that disrupts the natural cell cycle. Once normal function of the cell cycle is lost, cells begin to divide and grow uncontrollably. These cells then accumulate into tumors that trigger Mesothelioma symptoms. Approximately 3% of women with cancer have Mesothelioma, and 5% of men with cancer have Mesothelioma. Current medical treatment options include chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, and most patients choose to undergo a combination of these processes in order to increase their life expectancy.
It would have to be followed up by biological or chemotherapy. When it gets in the fifty stages the cancer has spread beyond the regional lymph nodes to other tissues in your body and is extremely serious. There is no cure for stage five you can do the entire thing they want you to but once it hit that stage there is no help for it. The survival rates for melanoma depend on the stage that the diseases are in. The early that you detection and the diagnosis, and the treatment are essential to ensure improved survival rates are.
Cancer and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer, when someone is diagnosed or knows someone who is diagnosed a wide range of thoughts and emotions race through their mind. There are many different types of cancers that can afflict almost anywhere in the body. Still many ask what exactly is cancer and what makes it so dangerous. Chemotherapy may be given to a cancer patient to keep the cancer from spreading or to prevent the cancer cells from dividing at a fast rate. Chemotherapy may also be given to a patient to help relieve symptoms such as pain from the cancer. Chemotherapy is a great discovery and has helped save many lives but it can be very invasive and cause unpleasant side effects. Chemotherapy is designed to kill any cells that are growing at a fast rate even if they are not cancerous, this can lead to great exhaustion and feeling sick. Nausea, vomiting, hair loss, and sickness are common side effects of Chemotherapy that cannot be prevented because every human body handles different drugs differently.

Jacky Huang Medical Report 10/18/11 1)Cause of Deficiency Cancer is a class of diseases characterized by out-of-control cell growth, and lung cancer occurs when this uncontrolled cell growth begins in one or both lungs. Rather than developing into healthy, normal lung tissue, these abnormal cells continue dividing and form lumps or masses of tissue called tumors. Tumors interfere with the main function of the lung, which is to provide the bloodstream with oxygen to be carried to the entire body. Most lung cancers are the result of inhaling carcinogenic substances. Carcinogens are a class of substances that are directly responsible for damaging DNA, promoting or aiding cancer.
Sarah E. Byerley 12 March 2014 AHS 115: Medical Terminology Written assignment: A Brief Survey of Cancer In the eighth edition of Exploring Medical Language: A Student-Directed Approach, by Myrna LaFleur Brooks and Danielle LaFleur Brooks, cancer, known medically as a malignant neoplasm (35, 49), is broadly defined as a group of diseases involving unregulated, abnormal growth of new cells (29). In cancer, cells divide and grow uncontrollably, forming malignant masses, or tumors, and, if left untreated, invading nearby parts of the body. The cancer may also spread to more distant parts of the body through the lymphatic system or bloodstream. This process is medically defined as metastasis, or the spread of disease from one organ to another
There is no single way to diagnose cancer in an individual. It requires a complete evaluation, and health physical, along with diagnostic testing or blood tests to accurately diagnose a patient with cancer. (American Cancer Society, 2012). Staging: Staging cancer means finding its location in the body and how much cancer is present. Doctors often need to stage the cancer to help them make a more accurate prognosis.
