Melanoma Skin Cancer Kimberly Melton Feb, 23-2013 LAURA BABBITT Melanoma is a type of skin cancer which comes from excessive sunlight exposure or from moles. This exposure will cause normal cells to become abnormal. The abnormal cells will then quickly grow and attack surrounding tissue forming cancerous and noncancerous moles. Some risk factors of melanoma includes more than sun exposure. If the cancer is not being treated it can advance and spread to other parts of the body, where it can be hard to treat and can be fatal to you. This is causes the most deaths in the word. When it gets in the fifty stages the cancer has spread beyond the regional lymph nodes to other tissues in your body and is extremely serious. There is no cure for stage five you can do the entire thing they want you to but once it hit that stage there is no help for it. The survival rates for melanoma depend on the stage that the diseases are in. The early that you detection and the diagnosis, and the treatment are essential to ensure improved survival rates are. My personal experience with disease has not been great. I have a family history of melanoma and it took my sister a long time before she would have it seen. My sister had a mole on her arm and did not seek treatment. The mole was abnormal and bleeding but by the time she seen a doctor concerning the mole it was too late. She was in the fifth stage of cancer and she died a year later.
