For this brief we were encouraged to pin point what our ‘strengths’ we have in performing, so for my initial ideas I went towards singing and acting. Once I had completed my research and made my final pitch it became clear that I would try to include all three aspects of performing arts to really try to impress. My research into possible/ideal venues, proved difficult to find in the local area, so I found mine in London… Our production company was invited to perform a Cabaret or Variety Act to an adult audience in a local venue. Each performance had to be approximately
All my life I always come cross seeing a one type of theater is seeing one’s of my favorite R and B musical singer at a concert and that simmered seeing a play because they both have a lot in comment like the audience, stage spaces, director, producer, and many more. Long time ago I did seen the Lion King play in New York that was really interesting and it made me feel like I was in the show with all the excitement going on like movement, dancing, singing and many more. Theater is totally different from the film and television because with all different performance, each audience response differently of how they see it in their view. Second, theater had many different things you should know when you go to see played a t the theater like stage spaces, scenery, costumes, lighting, sound, and musical. The thing I was touch by the costumes design because of the fact I like fashion, how they would match up the costumes with the story.
Act 1 Scene 5 – Romeo and Juliet How does Shakespeare make Act 1 Scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet so exciting? Act 1 Scene 5 is one of the most important parts of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ because this is the scene when Romeo and Juliet first meet and it is love at first sight. Shakespeare has made this an enjoyable scene because he has used lots of emotions to make it more exciting and dramatic. Shakespeare makes the start of Act1 Scene 5 quite exciting because the serving men are preparing for some sort of party; this makes the atmosphere from the stage go into the audience because everyone is ready for what is going to happen next. Shakespeare also makes people know how rich Capulate is by the serving man saying “save me a piece of marchpane” marchpane was very expensive.
West Side Story Review For me this production of ‘West Side Story’ was enthralling, energetic & emotional. I was a little confused at first as I had seen the movie version beforehand. For example in the movie the song ‘Gee Officer Krupke’ comes just before the war council whereas in the performance it came after the Rumble where Riff and Bernardo died. The use of backdrops, sets and props was clever. Some of the sets were simple but the lighting and props made them magical.
The last performance that Steve Rowland showed us was about the story of Shakespeare’s Othello. This one was more understandable to everyone because it was written like a hip hop rap. The story was clearly conveyed through the lyrics and it was easy to comprehend. I really enjoyed this one the most because I am more into modern and mainstream music. When they showed the prisoners these three performances, they were, like me, most able to comprehend the one that was in English.
Professor Dan Rebellato states that: “we laugh at something because we feel superior to it”. This is valid as the audience laugh at Frank not understanding the joke. However, we may also laugh at Rita not understanding Frank’s references. People in the audience may understand Frank’s references if read well which would be typical of people who attend the theatre. Andrew Edwards, a set designer for a production of ‘Educating Rita’ claimed that: ‘a lot of
Musicals were a great opportunity for the department to make money, and also to show the student body what theater is all about. It also provided the opportunity to build up a students work history. “Let’s say I go to be a theater director or I try out as an actor or stage managing or any of that, this musical would help with my resume,” Benito Stated “when I came in 2009, they did God Spell I think. Last year we did Tommy and then this year we didn’t have one. I think they have been doing musicals for a long
This choice by Mr. Davis I felt was a risky one because there were a lot of songs in that play that not everyone in the audience was familiar with. I was glad that a few of the actors I had graduated with as well as myself were in the audience because we did this play a few years ago and still knew all the words to the songs. It was however a good way to get the audience involved with the play and to keep them on their toes. I feel as if Mr. Davis didn’t want the audience to just have to sit quietly and absorb, The Wizard of Oz is a well-known show and movie so it was a good choice for what he wanted to accomplish. This affected the audience because not very many people were prepared to be actively involved and were surprised at first, but as the show progressed many relaxed considerably and had a great time.
This is separating the “star” from the person and letting the audience see that these famous actors really do live their own lives with their own problems. I liked how real old films were used in the movie of Adam Sandler as a child to make it more realistic. Another example the film is reflecting on reality is with Seth Rogen’s character. He is an up and coming comedian trying to make it, and he ends up becoming a famous comedian’s assistant which ultimately puts him in the limelight. Overall, I thought Funny People was a good movie that
My personal experiences with drawing and painting are from previous folios, is that with drawing is more likely to turn out better than the painting. I prefer drawing because it’s easier to do once you have your idea in your head. My main artistic influence is a modern dancer and choreographer Martha Graham who also had been influenced by Picasso for the modern art, Stravinsky for the music and Frank Lloyd Wright for the architecture. Although my mother had influenced me to begin dancing at age 5, since then it’s been 12 years and thought that it will be a good thing to work on. My Mother inspired me to Dance because it was fun and enjoyable, every time I step foot on the stage or put on my costumes I am proud that I am a dancer and with that it will be really interesting to see what they would come out as within an artwork or piece.
