Summary The theory behind adult learning and the principles used gives you an understanding of what and how to motivate adults to learn. There clearly is a huge difference in children and adults learning patterns. Learning as an adult can be self motivated, peer motivated, or motivated by the desire to excel in today’s job market. The theory elaborated upon in these articles gives you an up close look at the learning capacity of an adult versus a child and timeline when learning becomes challenging. Article 1 highlighted several theories of adult learning.
The term for this theory is andragogy. Throughout this paper I will discuss the many things that make up andragogy. Also I will discuss how andragogy applies to many different aspects of lives as adults. I hope that you will be enlightened by what I write today. Therefore, the student was viewed as an adult learner. Honey and Mumford (1989) describes learning styles as activist, reflector, theorist and pragmatist. The author’s student’s preferred learning style was examined by using Honey and Mumford learning style questionnaire for much more effective learning to take place and this showed that the learner is an activist who thrives on the challenge of new experiences and learns by active experimentation (Kolb, 1984). All of these ten million people with different degrees of visual impairment still need to receive an education and a productive means of accomplishing those goals needs to be found and used more effectively and more often to maintain inclusion and equality in the class room. In order to accommodate to a student with a visual impairment the classroom teacher needs to know the needs of the student and how to administer the remedy to these needs and exactly how the student is impacted by these resources in order for optimal learning experiences. On page 386 if Marilyn Friends text book she describes the plan of action a teacher should take in order to teach a visually impaired student. A few examples that she uses are that all educational materials are written in large print, available in braille and have sound recordings.
