Thompson (2009) suggests that supervision is a process through which an organization empowers staff to meet organizational objectives, which involves a number of tasks from monitoring work tasks and workloads to ensuring legal and organizational requirements and policies are adhered to. Ensuring that Health and safety legislation is adhered to is an example of how the SCA operates within the role of supervisor, making sure that junior care staff are made aware of residents mobility needs by referring them to the relevant risk assessments, important too is the need to ensure that staff are aware of the correct use of all equipment used to transfer residents including safety checks prior to use and the appropriate method for storing said equipment after use, it is the supervisors responsibility to inform and instruct staff where there is evidence of uncertainty or misunderstanding of the correct health and safety

Then to assess the patient to evaluate whether they can return to the ward. • Then to evaluate all the three stages of the peri-operative care.
With the practice of the scope of RN, there are also standards that every RN needs to follow. Every RN follows the nursing process. The nurse follows standards of heath for the patient by preforming physical exams, asking health status questions, recognize change in health status, and communicating all information to the authorized health care provider. The nurse also has a role in collecting data and analyzes the proper nursing regimen that is needed. Also establishes and modifies a diagnosis or

Unit 511 Develop professional supervision practice in health and social care or children and young people’s settings (LM2c) M/602/3187 1 - Understand the purpose of professional supervision in health and social care or children and young people’s work setting:- 1.1 Analyse the principles, scope and purpose of professional supervision: As providers off care in the community we are required to undergo supervision and meet particular standards and requirements. Policies and Procedures are to be followed and we are all accountable for our work. Supervision is an ideal format to establish a person’s performance, reflect and monitor any issues or concerns. For example, Morrison (2005) suggests that there should be underpinning beliefs to Supervision, some of which are:- - Supervision is an important relationship between employer and employee. - Supervision is about reflection as well as action - Supervision must attend to both process and content - Good supervisors bring about change - Supervising is a complex and demanding task that requires training - Supervisors should be a role model for their staff.
UNIT 2 Introduction to Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young Peoples Settings 1.1 My role as a care assistant, the responsibilities and expectations of such are made clear to me within the job description, employee handbook, contract and via managerial/senior or experience staff guidance. My responsibilities as a care assistant include, providing emotional and practical support, assisting with personal care, such as dressing, bathing, washing, eating, toileting, accompanying to appointments/hospital admission, keeping documentation up to date and confidential, such as care plan's and application of topical medicine. I provide a duty of care which complies with both company and statutory requirements/policy, such as treating service users with respect and dignity encouraging equality and equal opportunity. 1.2 Standards with which the role is influenced include internal codes of practise policies and procedures, statutory legislation, such as the health and safety at work act 1974, national minimum standards, national occupation standards. Research and knowledge of these policies ensures that I work to required legal expectations for the benefit of myself, colleagues, employers and the service user.
These assessments will normally involve the Service User, members of the Service User’s family and a health care representative. We will discuss Service User’s needs, gather information on medication requirements, carry out risk assessments and discuss the services we offer. This information will then be reviewed and communicated to staff members so we can produce an individual care plan, copies of which are kept at the Service User’s home and in the office records. These care plans are used to give staff guidance and set out the Service User’s routine, emergency contacts, risk assessments, communication records and time sheets. All of this will be discussed with the relevant staff members prior
This means that the agencies identify needs and improvement areas pertaining to the care of the patient to ensure standards throughout all hospitals and health care facilities. The professional nursing organizations (PNO), such as the American Nurses Association have the care of the nurses and patients for the agenda and according to Cherry & Jacob these “organizations monitor public policy and offer avenues for their members to learn about health policy, they serve as an invaluable resources for reliable information related to policy issues and policymakers.” (2011)(p. 489). These professional organizations support the efforts of the nurses in all states and reflect guidelines for all nurses to adhere to provide the best possible care for the patients. As an example, the ANA notifies members of upcoming legislation that will impact the nurses at hospitals, nursing homes and clinics. Through this interaction the nurses are better informed as to what is happening in the political arena, such as patient ratios and shift lengths, this may impact the ability to care for patients or allow the care to improve.
I am expected to follow the home's codes of practice and conduct and the CSSIW's care standards. My work role includes promoting the need to safeguard each resident and promote their rights, interests and well-being. Outcome 2 2.1. Reflective practice is important to help develop your own work skills and to ensure that codes of practice are being followed, this is done during supervisions and appraisals. 2.3.
