My duties as a care worker involve giving clients personal care, such as assisting with washing, dressing, toileting requirements including catheter and convene care. Assisting with nutritional requirements such as meal planning/preparation/feeding, prompting/administering medication, shipping, cleaning. It is my responsibility to ensure that the client maintains an acceptable level of health and to promote the clients well-being. It is also my responsibility to ensure that all company policies and procedures are carried out and to maintain records for the service delivered, along with responsibility for ensuring that my training needs are kept up-to-date so that I am at the level of standards required to undertake my role. Contribute to health and safety in health and social care 1. Think about the needs of your service users and the type of service provided by your workplace. The needs of the service users in my workplace, Hillingdon Hospital, are physical as necessity of food, water, sleep, safety and security. Another type of need is intellectual such as mental activity, learning. Emotional needs are love, affection, self-concept, respect.
When I first started my role as care assistant, I received an induction training course, which familiarised myself with the role. Part of my induction was to read and understand the company's policy and procedures, which I am then responsible to follow . My role involves me, participating in the day to day running of a residential home and to provide advice and information to the people I support. Working as part of a team, and maintaining effective communication is also required in my role. Ensuring physical and emotional needs of residents are met and to promote the health and safety of those people I support, are also important in my care worker role.
