Unit 40 P2, P3, P4, Unit 28- P3, P4 roles and responsibilities As a care worker I would have many roles and responsibilities within a care home. I would assist the residents in personal care, this can include washing, dressing, toilet need and eating. I would also respond to any calls made from the residents to me in an efficient manner. Any incidents or unexplained injuries that may happen I would report to the nurse or manager in charge. I would ensure that the residents would be presentable in their appearance at all times.
One of the most important communication systems used in the workplace is a person centred care plan and the risk assessments involved in this. The care plan, when reviewed regularly communicates a range of relevant information to all staff and allied health professionals, to enable them to contribute to the effective delivery of care to that individual. A communication diary and noticeboard are useful in helping the team to plan for, and make appointments as well as serving as a reminder of upcoming appointments for residents or scheduled, mandatory training events for
Unit 18: Health and Safety Procedures in the Workplace 1.1 Define the main responsibilities for health and safety in the workplace of the following: a) employers: The employer has a responsibility for health and safety of all the staff, children and visitors to the nursery premises. The manager and deputy manager are responsible to ensure all policies are reviewed and regularly updated to cover any legal changes. The manager or deputy are to review accident records on a monthly basis to identify any recurring causes of the accidents and amend the situation.
In my job role as Deputy Manager I have to take into consideration our residents but their families, visitors, external healthcare professionals and other staff within the home. I ensure the communication needs of our residents are met by ensuring care plans are current, thoroughly reviewed and any changes are implemented and cascaded down to relevant staff members. In my position I use a lot of formal communication i.e. staff Supervisions, PDRs, team meetings, investigative interviews and handovers. I have to ensure that all important information is passed over in such a manner that I can evidence this has been done.
The support workers roles is too make sure they support the individual to there best of there ability and follow their care plan. It is the support workers role to provide the client with good quality of care. To do this you need to involve the individual in any decision making and encourage both there participation and feedback. The role of a care manager fulfils the role of a registered manager. The manager will be available to talk about any issues concerning the individuals 24 hours a day or if any problems occur.
CYNTHIA KASABWA NVQ 3 SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS TO ACCESS AND USE SERVICES AND FACILITIES Care Manager’s duty regards escorting residents to any individual area within Sunrise. It is important that all staff at the nursing home develop an effective working relationship with all the residents. There are many different types of relationships in the Home and they all play a valuable role in contributing to the overall wellbeing of all the residents involved. This helps to deliver the correct care required to suite each of the individuals required needs. Every Tuesday and Thursday the Home has set up a visit from a local hairdresser, part of my duty are to communicate with the resident to ensure that they are aware of the impending hairdresser’s arrival of these days.
UNIT 4223-301 OUTCOME 1 UNDERSTAND WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR COMPETENCE IN OWN WORK ROLE. +DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. My duties are to provide clinical and non clinical support to a multi professional team which can range from the care of a new mother and baby to the day to day running of the ward. I am responsible in undertaking direct care for patients and implementing this as to prepare the patient for going home safely with the knowledge they receive. I am responsible in making sure the care of the patient has been seen through to the end of their stay and to report any observations of the patient ,to the midwife in charge of that said shift and if anything needs reporting to act accordingly,ie frequent observations.
Communicating with other staff members ensures effective team working and continuity of care. It also ensures any health and safety issues are recognised and reported. All carers attend hand over at the beginning of each shift and also complete communication books after attending an individual, thereby keeping other staff informed and aware of current situations within the workplace. Individuals communicate with carers to express their needs and preferences and to ensure they are met. As a carer I would discuss the options and choices available to the individual to allow them an informed choice regards their care.
Personally, what I did within the lab became a custom and of such it is now a part of my everyday practice, especially the hand washing. The nursing process to me means an outline put in place to ensure that patient receives the best possible treatment, based on their beliefs and practice or cultural background. In the nursing process, there are five steps in which the nurses follow. It provides the ability to conduct a good nursing strategy to ensure that the patient outcome is as effective as possible. It also helps you to know that if a
Nursing care is provided to every patient under the direction of a Registered Nurse which has the responsibility and accountability for the assessment, nursing interventions, delegations to PCA’s (Patient Care Assistant). For instance, nurses can delegate to PCA’s or unlicensed staff to take vital signs, to draw blood, to bathe patients, patient ambulation, etc. The manager has the responsibilities to maintain qualified staff to perform all the tasks, also is responsible for the overall budget, performance improvement, staff retention, etc. The delegation from charge nurse is going to depend on the floors where they work. Some floors allow the charge nurse to take up to two patients, and others, charge nurses only supervise and help other nurses as necessary.
