Nichole Reyes Aerobics 05/02/13 Zumba is the Latin-inspired fitness craze that’s sweeping todays world. Zumba came about in Colombia in the 1990’s were this dance Choreographer/aerobics instructor named Beto Perez teached. Beto said that one day he went to his class and realized that he forgotten he’s aerobic music and he’s only option was to grab whatever tapes he had in his backpack and used the music from those tapes. It was a challenge for him to improvise a whole class on the spot using non-traditional aerobic music, but Beto rose to the Challenge and from this last minute improvising was born a revolutionary fitness program which he called “Zumba”. It then came to America in 2002. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. A typical zumba session last about one hour and can burn up to 500-1000 calories and incorporates social dance styles including cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggeton, samba, hip-hop, and mumbo. The Latin music includes both fast and slow rhythms Allowing for a great cardio workout and body sculpting exercises. There Are eight different levels of zumba. 1) Zumba Fitness: Is the basic zumba Workout for all ages. 2) Zumba Gold: Is mainly for the older population its Designed to the needs of the elderly. 3) Zumba Toning: Is for people who Do their workouts with toning sticks, which this workout targets the abs, Thighs, arms and other muscles throughout the body. 4) Aqua Zumba: Is Zumba in a swimming pool which blends it all together into safe , challenging water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning and most of all exhilarating beyond belief. 5) Zumbatomic: Is for children between the ages 4-12, which had kid-friendly routines. 6) Zumba Gold Toning: Is toning class for participants with goals Of improving one’s muscle strength, posture, mobility and
