During the drive to our first stop I saw many beautiful sites; mountains, lakes, rivers, forests... the nature was truly amazing! We even saw black tail deer and elk roaming right along side of the road. Our first stop was the city of Aberdeen but we only visited Gray's Harbor for an hour to stretch our legs and see if we could spot any gray whales but we didn't see any. Our next stop was beautiful Ruby Beach in the town of Kalaloch. You have to walk a trail through the forest to get to the beach and we enjoyed it so much!
Pronghorns can survive in these habitats because they rarely drink water. Also, most of the populations live 3,000ft- 8,000ft above sea level. ("Pronghorn Fact Sheet." San Diego Zoo Global) Since pronghorns live in the temperate grassland biome, their habitat consists of treeless plains with shrubs and prairie grasses. (Climate:."
These areas may be drier than wetland areas, but life is still abundant. As you get higher in elevation, you begin to leave the montane areas and enter the subalpine ecosystem. The bent and twisted spruce and fir trees say that the top of the mountain has very hard winters and summers. There are a lot of animals in the Rocky Mountain National Park. There are elk, mule deer, moose, bighorn sheep, coyotes, black bears, cougars and hundreds of smaller animals that live in the park.
5. According to the Study Site section of the Forest Community Structure and Succession lab manual, about 100 years ago College Woods was dominated by large, old white pine. The white pine was dominating due to the observation that the area was most likely cleared during the 1600’s making is a perfect area for white pine to dominate, because they prefer abandoned fields, burned over areas or large canopy openings, areas where they can receive direct sunlight. It was also stated that the understory was exclusively of hemlock and a few beech; which are two of the most shade tolerate trees. Refer to figure ten, the white pine (Ps) was dominant 100 years ago rather then the hemlock (Ts) and black birch (Bl) which are dominant now.
The land found at the northernmost part of earth is called the polar deserts. Unlike most deserts, it is very cold, but like most deserts there is little rain and the soil is filled with rocks. Other biomes that border this one are taiga and tundra. The entire polar ice region includes parts of the tundra as well as the polar deserts. There aren't many plants that can survive in the polar deserts.
English 150 – Research Essay 1 December 2009 The Effects of the Pine Beetle Infestation in BC British Columbia is a province known for its beautiful forests filled with tall, green pine trees. However, today these forests are not so beautiful due to the mountain pine beetle infestation. The mountain pine beetle, otherwise known as “[d]endroctonus ponderosae, is a small insect, less than a centimeter long, which lives most of its life under the bark of pine trees, including lodge pole, ponderosa and western white pine”(Natural Resources Canada). Ordinarily the pine beetle plays a meaningful role in the life of a forest as they help the forest by “attack[ing] old or weakened trees, speeding the development of a younger forest. However, [that is not the case today.]
“You know it, just let me text the wife see if she is cool with it” he said. I went and picked him up at 11:30 am on our way there is when I told him “Dude I don’t know how to ski or snowboard but I wanted to learn.” He said “I know you don’t know how but it is cool I’ll show you what I know.” After we arrive I can start to feel myself getting nervous but I could look to nervous in front of my best friend so I sucked it up. We go into the lodge and get in line to rent some snowboards I can still remember the smell of those concession stand cheeseburgers and french fries. A lady was in front of us yelling at the ski rental guy about not having the right size of boots she was given a size 6 and size 5. After that was settled it was our turn I got my size 10 boots and snowboard and put my boots on and we headed out to the lift.
Just prepared. North America is home to three species of bears. But because most of us aren’t likely to head out for a day hike in the Arctic, I’ll skip polar bears and focus instead on grizzlies (also known as brown bears) and black bears. • Grizzly Bears Range: Grizzlies have been eliminated from 98 percent of their native range in the American West and the Great Plains, according to the environmental organization Defenders of Wildlife. They’re now found from Alaska (the population
This resulted in a small, year-round pond on the site. Initially, large, mature trees surrounded the entire area, and later, city buildings would grow up around the park and shut out the view. Just north of the park was a landscape of natural beauty including hills, streams and valleys. Unfortunately, laborers who lived in the area rarely had the luxury of enjoying the view or the outdoors. It was for them that the park was primarily designed.
Some examples include polar bears everywhere, snow all year round, everyone loves hockey and everyone drinks beer. One stereotype that is quite literal is Canadians attitude. Many believe Canadians are peaceful and well mannered. This can be proven time and time again. When I was on a trip in beautiful Quebec City, I had difficulties communicating.
