Windshield Survey Summary and Reflection Mary Lou Lamer NUR/405 January 25, 2013 Dawn Warner Windshield Survey Summary and Reflection Introduction “Although it is necessary to identify health risk factors among individuals and groups in the community, it is of paramount importance that nurses learn to identify and work with health problems of a defined population or the total community”. (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2012, pg. 395). The “windshield survey” is one method that the nurse can use to collect data about a particular community, however, understanding the meaning of community, community health, community as a client, and partnership, as they relay to nursing in the public setting, is important to successful data assessment. They were round with conical roofs called a caneye and were irregularly arranged around a central plaza. The Cacique’s home was larger and better built than the rest and was suited on the plaza; this house was rectangular and called a bohio.
However Enga is also considered to be the land that they all live in records show that the Enga tribes date back no further than 1806, but have likely been present in this area for a very lot longer than that. The data that has been collected is a good source of information; however it is only for a short time period. Ecological studies show most of the information was from the recall of older tribe members and has little weight (Wohlt, P.B. 2004). The initial Enga tribe was located north and east of the southern highlands in rugged terrain of Panguna, New Guinea.
Several community studies involved a high percentage of African-American or Hispanic youth and their families. Studies showing the best results used randomized designs, valid and reliable measurements, and more extensive interventions. Some follow-up results showed PA was sustained after interventions ended. The collection of school and community studies is limited for several age groups with none below third grade and only three at college age. There are few community studies.
