While ’10 Mary Street’ explores the importance of the family and the family home on belonging, ‘Feliks Skrzynecki’ portrays family and culture as important aspects of belonging. The importance of family and the family home are conveyed in the poem ’10 Mary Street’ as important aspects of belonging. Reflecting back on the 19 years spent with his family in their home, the persona remembers the family’s daily routines and the sense of safety they felt in their suburban home. “We departed/ Each morning, shut the house/ Like a well-oiled lock,/…/ To school and work -” demonstrates the routine carried out by the family on a daily basis. The simile used describes a lock which
His father is the head of the family. He is very difficult to impress In the film, we are able to catch a bit of an earlier stage of the relationship between Chris parents, where they are having a serious fight. In the "present", they seem to get along, but you can sense the tension between them. Chris sister has been the sole companion of Chris since the earliest stages of his life and also is the one to tell the story of their relationship. She is not described very much in the film, though it is told that she and Chris send each others letters after he had taken off.

Any way that vulnerability is looked upon the bottom line, is that there is a person that is in need of help or assistance. The Ocampo’s have not only their age as vulnerability, but they also have their culture that makes them vulnerable as well. The Ocampo’s were an elderly couple. People in the health care field especially nurses have occasion that they are in contact with some of these vulnerable groups, they are limited to individual case. Nurses need to understand the complete perspective of vulnerable people and have broader “social- political” awareness in order to have more voice in the identity of these vulnerable communities. Vulnerable Population Barbara May NUR/440 November 19,2012 University of Phoenix Vulnerable Population The article that I chose has two different vulnerable populations that it discusses, that being the elderly and inmates. According to Potter et al (2007) “Providing healthcare to people with multiple, chronic or complex health concerns is therefore even more problematic”(2007). The older in the prison is the age of 50, which this is not considered to be old in the general society, it is in the inmate population, and the ageing process begins earlier. The older inmate population in the prison settings often presents with healthcare needs and, as the number of older people in prison is steadily increasing, even greater pressure will be placed on correctional and health staff to adequately meet the needs of these inmates. Vulnerable populations include the working poor, racial and ethnic minorities, the uninsured, children, the elderly, the homeless, those chronic health conditions, including HIV/AIDS, not to mention severe mental illness.

Vulnerable Populations Definition In describing human susceptibility, the Webster’s Dictionary defines the word “vulnerable” as “to be susceptible to being wounded or hurt, or open to moral attack or criticism.” As defined by me With that definition in mind and susceptibility as a basic essence of human existence, I would attempt to define “vulnerable” as, the inclination to “succumb” to any degrees of hurt, wound or pain - physical, mentally, emotional or spiritual - that can be variously inflicted and or received in the natural course of the human experience. By extension therefore any groupings or pockets of the general populous that can be classified as having the propensity to suffer this hurt can be described as a vulnerable population. Health Care Definition In the nursing literature however, vulnerable is used to describe populations who are marginalized, disenfranchised, poor, and or subject to discrimination (Aday, 2001). They may include the children and the elderly, the handicapped and the homeless, the terminally ill and the addicted, the illiterate and the mentally challenged, and those without efficient access to healthcare. Barriers –A Nursing Home Case Study Of all the population groups that qualify as venerable, one of the most important are the elderly.
