The Shallows: What Internet is Doing to Our Brains is nonfiction book written by Nicholas Carr who asserts and cautions the effects that internet has on everyone to this day and even more so in the future. People nowadays can communicate with people all around the world using many different types of communications such as social networking sites, cell phones, emails, etc.
In the essay, Turkle explains that the internet and BlackBerry phones are absorbing all of our time and attention. She says these media devices reduce our natural ability to form relationships and be social with one another. When people are together, they now divide their attention between the person they are with and their Blackberry or mobile device.Turkle stresses that the growing trend of constantly carrying a cell phone can have a negative impact on children. They no longer have to experience being completely alone or finding their way because parents are on speed dial to help them in an instant. The reading Me Against the Media, by Naomi Rockler-Gladen, addresses the issue of naturalized consumerism.
Nowadays technology is involved in everyone’s lives. People recur to technology for many reasons. Whether they are looking for news or just gossip, people turn on their computers first thing in the morning or check their cell phones for updates. You can find whatever you want in the social media and search engines, from anti-government facebook pages to how to perfect boil your egg. Social media influences every aspect of our humanity.

Combining fun and games into healthcare apps can motivate patients. It could also help to collect data needed to make informed decisions on daily activities that contribute to one’s health. Making a game out of health tracking creates an environment that keeps the patient from straying from the appropriate therapy path (Szczerba, 2014).

Those who support a traditional classroom approach to learning argue that it provides more of an opportunity for students to interact with the teacher and other students. Those who feel that learning over the Internet is better argue that it allows students to learn anytime and anywhere they choose. Do you feel education is better provided in traditional classrooms or when offered over the Internet? Being part of this technological generation, I find that even while typing this paper I am answering emails, phone calls, the door, eating, and a multitude of other odds and ends. Am I truly capable of delivering the best work to my ability due to these outside factors? I believe the answer is a resounding NO! Growing up in this technological era, I was introduced at a very young age to the video gaming world. It was from this point that I knew gaming would become a very large part of my life.
