Virtual Reality is using computer technology to create a simulated, three-dimensional world that a user can manipulate and explore while feeling as if he were in that world. When you hear that phrase what pops into your mind? Could it be mythical creatures in 3-D that are attacking, interactive sports games, training from your last job, or something else? Uses of Virtual Reality In today’s society we are constantly trying to find ways to simplify our lives. People want the fastest training, shortest flight, the quickest check out line, and the list goes on and on. People are constantly seeing new inventions advertised to make our lives easier. When you look at the skills required to run some of these products they can be rather intimidating. Most can all relate to opening up that new cell phone package, the feelings are a mix of excitement and dread. You finally have your new toy, unfortunately now you have to learn how to use it. And who wants to read that big manual? What can people do to make this learning curve shorter? The world of Virtual Reality offers many tutorials online. Someone can simply type in the name of their new cell phone and watch video explaining all of the new features. Now put that same scenario in the workplace. Consider that a business has a new employee; do they put him behind the wheel of our $140K bus and let him take it for a spin around the neighborhood to let him figure out all of the shinny knobs and buttons? NO WAY! [pic]
