Human beings are socially minded and we love to interact with other people around us in order to make and develop relationships, share information and ideas, give and receive support, express thoughts and emotions such as fear, anger, pain, love and also to avoid mixed communication and tension. 1.2(a) Identify the range of people you communicate with in your work settings. At work, I communicate with service users, colleagues, relatives and visitors, supervisor, manager, medical staff and colleagues from other agencies. (b) Explain the importance of achieving effective communication patterns with people you work with As a carer, I must be able to communicate effectively with the people I provide care and support for to build trust and to make them satisfied with the care provided.
Unit 4223-302: Promote communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings. Outcome 1: Understand why effective communication is important in the work setting. 1. Identify the different reasons people communicate. People communicate to express needs, to share ideas and information, to reassure, to express feelings, to build relationships; socialise, to ask questions, to share experiences.
Effective communication affects all aspects of work as it is a way of developing personal relationships with service users and their families so you are able to meet their needs. It is important to develop positive relationships with work colleagues and other professionals, sharing information and having the information you need to be able to report on your work. This can only be achieved through effective communication. It is important to use different types of communication such as verbal, non verbal (body language, expression, signs, symbols or other visual aids) to clearly understand an individual’s needs and wishes. 1.3 Explain why it is important to observe an individual’s reactions when communicating with them.
Effective communication can help promote and create a positive working environment. Effect communication is a two-way process. When working in care I will need to be able to communicate with a wide variety of people, from all walks of life. Communication is important as it can have an effect on the service within an adult care setting. Good communication with service users may encourage then to join in activities, which will promote equality and wellbeing within the care setting.
This includes using words, feedback, action, body language and gestures. With effective communication service users and family will enjoy the services provided. 1.3 Explain why it is important to observe an individual reactions when communicating with them All communication has an effect on the person that you are communicating with. Interactions a two way process, it is important to watch the effects so that any problems can be identified and dealt with. In order to be effective in care and supporting service users you have to be a good communicator whether this is through speaking, body language, facial expressions or gestures.
Aii Explain how effective communication can affect relationships in an adult social care setting between: a) Colleagues and other professionals It is essential to have good communication between your colleagues and any other professions involved in the care of an individual. Tasks will be more successful with effective communication so you can discuss and gain information about the people you are caring for. With good communication between all those involved the individual is able to receive the best possible care. To develop within your role; effective communication is needed between your colleagues and managers so you are free to express what you think and how you feeling. b) Individuals using the service and their carers Effective communication is vital between carers and the residents.
1.2- Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of working in an adult social care setting: Effective communication can affect many aspects of work,effectively communicating can help build levels of trust,help recording and reporting incidents, aid participation and help with service provisions. 1.3-Explain why it is important to observe individuals reactions while communicating with them: When communicating with an individual it is key to pay attention to reactions that the person gives off. This is because it allows one to understand what that the individual is expressing and to help meet the individuals needs.It helps to also notice any changes in an individuals needs and to enable effective communication. Outcome 2- Understand how to meet the communication and language needs,wishes and preferences of an individual. 2.1- Explain why it is important to find out an individual's communication, language needs ,wishes and preferences: It is important to find out an individual’s needs,wishes,and preferences because it allows the person to enable effective communication while trying to understand what an individual is trying to express.
It is a process by which two or more people exchange ideas, facts, feelings or impressions in ways that each gains a common understanding of the message. We need to build relationships with the service users that we work with, their families and our colleagues to enable us to work effectively. Relationships and communication skills are closely linked, as good communication will help to build good relationships. Relationships are influenced by the way we communicate this not only includes the language we use and how we listen to others but also our body language, gestures and facial expressions. If we do not communicate well with either a colleague or service user this could affect the way we work, as it could cause an atmosphere or tension in the work environment.
Introduction: Effective communication is the most important factor within care settings for children and young people. If you are able to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, children and young people you are able to build strong relationships within all sectors of your work place including different professionals such as other teachers, doctors, nurses and the authorities. Communication in the work setting varies from one-to-one interactions with a child or a parent, group interactions with the children and staff meetings. In my report I will explain the different reasons why people communicate and I will also give an explanation of how communication affects relationships within the work setting. CU1515-Communication in the work setting; Communication is very important in understanding the needs of other people. For communication to occur there needs to be at least two people present, communication is one of the most important skills needed by the health care professional. Effective communication is essential for the well being of the individual you care for and is much more than just conversation. People talk because sharing information makes life easier, there are other ways of communicating which include; body language, gestures, facial expressions, positioning and appearance, eye contact, touch and behaviour.
