Underrated Artist With our music industry increasingly growing every single day, the standardization for what people recognize as great quality music has gotten ridiculously absurd. Nowadays, most people believe good music includes an upbeat rhythm and words that don’t even make sense, and in order to become famous, artists have to start non-beneficial trends that often involve vulgar actions; sadly, this makes musicians that write and sing with passion either convert into this new trend for what is recognized as “popular music” or they just become underrated artists. A great example of this would be the magnificent Colombian artist named Shakira; This outstanding woman is extremely underrated and her musical skills often end up being known as trashy and wannabe “pop”. Shakira is the perfect definition of an amazing role model for our society’s youth because she has overcome multiple obstacles in order to get worldwide recognition and she devotes her time to help people with urgent necessities. At a young age, Shakira was rejected from her school choir because the teacher believed she sounded like a goat, but that didn’t stop the young and brave girl from trying. 10 years later she became one of the most successful artists in Latin America, winning the hearts of millions of people and proving the choir director from her school wrong. This proves that one can achieve anything they desire if they set their minds to it. Now that shakira is a multi-millionaire, she is strictly dedicated to charity and education for children. In January 2014, she built her sixth school in Latin America for underdeveloped children. This is incredibly beneficial for the third world countries in the region because in this section of the world education isn’t a right, but instead a privilege.
