On May 28, 2009, Rob Williams and Arnie States openly harassed transgender children about how it is ok for their parents to abuse them on their morning talk show called Rob, Arnie, and Dawn in the morning. “Dawn, they are freaks. They are abnormal. Not because they're girls trapped in boys bodies but because they have a mental disorder that needs to be somehow gotten out of them.” These attacks were directed towards a transgender child in Omaha, Nebraska about her parent’s decision to support her transformation. Dehumanizing and derogatory remarks, such as those made by Rob and Arnie, reduce the personhood of all transgendered people and need to come to an end. In order for these cruel remarks to cease, society is going to have to change. As of now some may find people of transgender to be “disgusting” simply because they are different. Until they are seen as human beings not “freaks” harassment will continue. Discrimination has been seen throughout American history. Up until the passing Thirteenth Amendment in 1865 African American people were seen merely as property to the white man. Since the comments made by Rob Williams have been made a public spectacle, he has come forward with a personal apology, one from his show, and from the entire radio station. "Our audience made it clear that we had actually made it seem as though we endorse or allow… I proudly and fully apologize, apologize for those comments completely. I'm sorry that this show in any way made it sound like we would ever tolerate any of those things that I described."
