The hospital/doctor television series are mainly based in a hospital settings, but there are the few that are based in clinics and fire departments. My favorite shows are mostly hospital trauma shows, because you have the traumas, surgeries and the soap opera effect with relationships. The three main genres that the producers break hospital/doctor series down into are comedy, medical drama, and dramedy. The comedy genre is a light and humorous drama with a happy ending. In these shows most of the show is very humorous and silly, also has a lot of qwerkiness among the characters. One of the most known shows in this genre is Scrubs; it features fast-paced dialogue, slapstick, and surreal vignettes presented mostly as daydreams. Another great example of a comedy medical show is Doogie Houser. It is a television show that features a brilliant doctor who also faces the problems of being a normal teenager. The comedy genre is probably my least favorite of the three genres. A medical drama is a television drama in which events center upon a hospital, an ambulance staff, or any medical environment. The show is very focused on the literal part of medicine and the educating part of a medical environment. These types of shows mainly consist of a lot of trauma and very intriguing cases. One of my favorite television shows in this genre is House. The show's central character is Dr. Gregory House, an unconventional medical genius who heads a team of diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey. Another show that was discontinued but very popular was Quincy M.E. The series starred Dr. Quincy, a strong-willed, very principled Medical Examiner (forensic coroner) in Los Angeles County working to ascertain facts about suspicious deaths. This genre is the one that I can really get into and tone everything out while I am watching it;
