Although that may sound too good to be true for some, it is something that can be achieved. The modern day computer contains many components, some basic and some advanced. By learning to identify these components and how they function, you can gain the knowledge to fix problems and perform your own upgrades. Although it may seem overwhelming at first, a computer can be looked at like a puzzle. There are many pieces, in different shapes and sizes, that all fit together. Understanding how modern day computers work helps users identify components, troubleshoot problems and even upgrade hardware. Modern day computers contain a vast amount of hardware that allows them to function. Some of the components are required for a computer to work, and some of the components are added in order to achieve greater performance and capability. Learning what the basic components are will better help you understand how a computer functions. The basic components of a computer include a motherboard, a computer processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), a power supply unit (PSU), a hard disc drive (HDD), a computer case, a mouse, a keyboard, and a monitor.
