Is odyssues a good leader in book 10? Good leaders are depicted as people who are loyal, compassionate and smart. Odyessues has all those qualities and shows them multiple of times through out his journey. When odysseus's men are tunred into animals; this is an importnant event because in rescueing his men he overpowers the godess circe , proving his capablility as a good leader.Odysseus is a loyal man more than one way. He shows loyalty when he is arguing with Circe and says ' if you are sincere in asking me to eat and drink give them their liberty and let me set my eyes on my loyal followers'. This shows that he is thoughtful and was willing to sacrifice food and drink in order to free his men. This is significant because to have loyal followers you need to be a loyal leader. Odysseus also shows patience when he is told to ' get out' as he stays silent and doesnt say anything rude back. This shows us that odysseus is patient enough to stay quiet and not loose control of his anger. We see this in book 10 lines 171-173 when he says 'i reached the ship , i threw the stag down infront of it and going up to each man in turn heartened them with a cheerful word'. This shows us that he is strong enough to kill anc carry the stag and provide it to his men with his own bear hands. In order to be a good leader you must have strenght physically and mentally to lead a strong and army. Odyssues show intelligence and indipendance as he thinks for himself. He also makes smart decisions for him and his men. We see this when it says in the book ' i did not follow them instead i brought my black ship to rest outside the harbour'.
