Brady found his groove by the fifth game of the 2000-2001 season his third start. Since that game Brady has become one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Compared to legend quarterback Joe Montana, another one of the greatest of all time, Brady has stats that are close to Montana’s but some that outshine Montana, this battle of stats and awards
Coach K at last led Duke to victory in 1991, winning their first national championship. Once again in the year 1992, Duke won the national title, and maintained the national number one ranking throughout the season, this time by 20 points. Mike Krzyzewski is the only coach since John Wooden to win two consecutive NCAA championships. Once again the Duke team made it to the championship in 1994, losing by only 4 points to Arkansas. Shortly after the tournament, Coach K. was forced to take a ten-month break from coaching because he underwent back surgery, but he returned to lead the Blue Devils into three more NCAA tournaments in 1996, '97 and '99.
I have made this page in honor of the greatest (in my opinion) QB of all time, who lead his team to 4 Super Bowl Championships and boasts 3 Super Bowl MVP's. Joe Montana was born in New Eagle and raised in Monogahela (outskirts of Pittsburgh in West Pennsylvania). From day one he had a winning spirit, in all sports he played. When he was young his father used to play sports with him. In football they would work on his accuracy
Last year in the NFL 2 quarterbacks made their rookie debut. One was Andrew luck who played QB for Stanford; he was drafted first in the 2012 draft by the Indianapolis Colts. The other was Robert Griffin the third commonly referred to as RG3 he was the Heisman trophy winner that hailed from Baylor, he was drafted 2nd by the Washington Redskin. These two quarterbacks both have strengths that set them apart from the rest and weaknesses that they individually have to conquer to become great NFL quarterbacks. I will be doing an in-depth statistical comparison analysis to diagnose which one of these young quarterbacks had a better rookie debut, hype factor, who will win a super bowl first, who will have a better career, if RG3’s injury proneness
Vince is a tremendous athlete and a gentleman off the field. He was the starting quarterback for the University of Texas Longhorns, until he entered the NFL draft as a junior in college. Young has compiled far to many accomplishments to list, so I will just talk about a few. He is a two time Rose Bowl MVP, and finished second in the voting for the Heisman Trophy this season. Young also won the 2005 Cingular Player of the Year Award, All-American Offensive Player, and The Maxwell Award (college player of the year).
In 1968, he rushed for 1,709 yards and 22 touchdowns, earning the Heisman Trophy the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Award that year. Simpson also won the Walter Camp Award in 1967 and was a two-time All-American (1967- 1968). Simpson was drafted by the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills, who got first pick in the 1969 draft after finishing 1-12-1 in 1968. Early in his NFL career, Simpson struggled on poor Buffalo teams, averaging only 622 yards per season for the first three years. Simpson’s 1977 Season in Buffalo was cut short by injury.
Andrew “Joey” Johns Andrew Johns is a former professional Rugby League player who is most famously known for being the halfback and captain for the Newcastle knights. He first played in the Newcastle knights juniors at age 15, in 1989. From then on it was evident that he was a skilful player, and when the opportunity to play in first grade presented itself four years later he took it. He was an instant success scoring 23 points in his debut match against the Rabbitohs, earning him the man of the match award. He would later go on to lead the knights first premiership victories in 1997 and 2001, as well as playing in 2 world cups and 1 kangaroo tour.
Whether you’re supporting your alma mater or a team you’ve grown up rooting for, College Football season is highly anticipated for more than one reason. College Football is a spectacle in itself, with 119 schools participating in the NCAA 1-A division and now up to 35 postseason bowl games. In-season Saturdays are blocked off for a plethora of activities; tailgating, attending games, placing bets, or simply just an excuse to drink. However, there is one college football game that is unlike any other matchup, the annual Army-Navy game. “A team for America: The Army-Navy Game that Rallied a Nation.” The Army-Navy has been played annually since 1930, and in total have competed 112 times.
On the eve of his last college football game, Woody Hayes reflected on his legendary coaching career at Ohio State by stating that "nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach” (“Woody Hayes”). The accomplishments that Woody Hayes had at Ohio State included 3 national championships, 13 Big Ten Titles and four of the teams 8 trips to the Rose Bowl. He gathered 205 victories in just 28 seasons including 2 consecutive years of not suffering a single loss. Although known for his love of winning he was also known for his temper.
Tittle was a father and a quarterback for the New York Giants for three years, leading the Giants to the National Football League championship game, only to lose each time. He was the Most Valuable Player in 1963, and also a football ancient, 38 years old, and looked it. He never gave up on his team with all hard work and dedication he had put into it to make sure his team made it to the championship game even with a loss. The play that almost ended his life, made him even more valuable and respectful. On the play he had thrown a screen pay that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown.
