One of the main attractions of these exhibits is two murals from the ancient Mayan city-states. During my visit to the museum, I had the chance to explore these murals. I also learned about their difference and what did the Mayan’ wanted the future generation to remember them as. Part I These murals are truly a piece of art. They definitely serve as a big resource for me to learn bit more about the Mayan civilization.
Presentation on Kemet January 17, 2012, in R.J. Reynolds Building, Dr. Elwanda D. Ingram, an English Professor, presented a speech to African-American Culture classes. Dr. Ingram presented a speech on Kemetic blacks, black history, and the city of Cairo in Egypt. Kemet, which means “Land of the Blacks”, were helpful to civilization today. Kemetic people started “culture”, and in Egypt, where they were lived, was the birthplace of literature. Kemetic people created paper and ink, and also created their own language called hieroglyphics.
[pic] Sulfur started committing crimes when it was in the biblical times. At this time it went by a different name. The name it went by was Brimstone. This name was derived from the Arabic word, Sufra which means light yellow. Over time this substance has committed so many crimes that it had to change its names.

He describes that upon the tombstone, there appears to be a coat of arms that has inscribed on it, “On a field, sable, the letter A, gules.” Red is used to represent sin or passion. Black can be used to represent darkness and even rebellion. Throughout the story, it mentions Hester’s clothing being the black fabric with the red letter on it. The last line of the novel mentions the letter A on a sable; a sable is a black background. The black and red contrast in general drawing attention and it shows the sin, represented by the red, with the rebellion, represented by the black, which helps to reveal the truth about Hester in the novel.

Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the colors red, black, and others to represent Hester’s emotions and the emotions of those around her. The most frequently employed color symbol by Hawthorne is Red. It represents many different unique things in the novel. Hester’s sin is judged by sin, not by actions. The red letter “A” that Hester was forced to wear on her chest for committing adultery was a major symbol.
World Trade: A Thing of the Past By: Jordan Kerr Global markets and world trade are thought to be a more recent phenomenon. But Timothy Brooke the author of Vermeer’s Hat explores the seventeenth century as the first global age through seven of Johannes Vermeer’s famous paintings. Brooke a historian professor discovers and explores society in the seventeenth century referencing Vermeer’s paintings, and specific objects and details in them. Brooke’s main thesis is that by looking at the paintings closely uncovers specific details which tell a story of the time and place which the paintings were created.
