In our society today there is an overwhelming gap when it comes to SIDS education and awareness. During pregnancy not much is being done to emphasize the importance of SIDS awareness to expectant mothers and their partners. There is so much focus on prenatal education and informative expectancy before the birth of the child that other important information including SIDS awareness is overlooked. Although many of these prenatal education are beneficial to the parents there is simply not one particular prenatal class that simply provides important information on SIDS prevention and awareness. Since 1979 the group has started four national programs to support state SIDS and infant death services starting with the resource center that year in 1979 followed by the program support center in 1998, the National Center for cultural competency in 1998 and Project IMPACT last year in 2003. There are many ways institutions and individuals can contribute to this effort which can be accomplished by approving our grant proposals. In order to meet this need, our proposed grant program to expand collections and programs by linking for the first time with managed care facilities, hospitals, and independent care practices which would allow our organization to host sessions using bylaws for labor and delivery requirements to reach expectant mothers in the awareness and education of SIDS and prevention (Prevent SIDS, 2005). Grant Proposal and Bylaws In order to get our grant for approval we must have an effective and organized proposal. We have to pay extra attention to any supplemental materials requested by the granting agency, such as a tax-exemption letter from the IRS or financial statements for legality reasons.
