The general liberty of the people must not be in danger especially of the government power. Therefore, the judicial review plays one of the most important roles among the government even though their power might seem weak as Alexander Hamilton says. Judicial review as way of surveillance over legislature and executive branch and as protection of the people from political threats is the main factors for the necessity in the checks and balances system. Moreover, the importance of the judicial review can be proved by the fact that the judicial review establishing the
If citizens are to be entrusted with such cherished personal freedoms as guaranteed in the constitution, then they must have the responsibility to obey the law and to be productive, lest their freedoms be taken away. Conversely, if American citizens didn’t respect the law and abused their personal freedoms, then the government would be prompted to take their freedoms away. However unlikely that may be, the values that America is founded on are that men are inherently good and can be trusted to take care of themselves and respect the rights of others. One founding father who best embodies the civic value of responsibility is George Washington. As America’s hero from the Revolutionary War and first president, Washington was given many responsibilities for the new nation.
This causes many issues with people and society. There becomes an unneeded amount of people on the streets. This is an ethical problem because the people who choose to be on the streets could be off of the streets but they choose to be lazy and unmotivated although they shouldn’t be because they can relieve themselves of the predicament they are in. This is ethically wrong because people shouldn’t be homeless by choice. It’s not okay because it causes more money to be wasted towards people that shouldn’t be helped at all.
This relates back to the experiment, because the participants obeyed even though they knew it was not right to shock the learners, and King probably would have encouraged the participants to stop. Moreover, King strongly disagrees that the government should have the authority to guide people when there are many wrongdoings in the governmental system. His ideal social relations are far from dependent on obedience because he believes everyone to be equal. Also, he knows that total obedience often lead to tragedies like the segregation and racism that African-American are suffering from. Milgram’s conclusion really advocates King’s belief, because the surprising conclusion of obedience to authority is what King does not believe to be the way of social relations.
Due process is also the law which it is based on that of the idea that at the legal proceedings they can not interfere with that of life, the liberty or that of the property is treated unfairly. You also have the due process in the fifth and the fourteenth amendment that are guaranteed that the person will be able to have notice of the proceedings and that they are given the opportunity to be able to be heard prior to any seizures of , the life, the liberty, and the property. Due process is also the principal that the government must be able to respect that of all of the legal rights that should owed to the people that is according to the law. Due process it is also holds the government to make sure that they are following the law and protecting the individuals from the state. If a person becomes harmed by that of the government they have to follow the law and if they don't follow it will end up as a constitutes of a due process violation that will end up offending against the rule of the law.
The four elements include the rule of law, human dignity, respect, and being informed and getting involved. According to the rule of law, everyone should adhere to the same laws regardless of who they are which should be predictable and impartial. It is clear that in Libya this is not the situation. The prison workers/guards are torturing and assaulting the prisoners which is both against the law and frowned upon. They may hold a higher position in this specific jail environment than the prisoners but at the same time, they must adhere to the same laws that the prisoners must adhere to.
“Let’s do the right thing”, let the officers of the law provide a safe and secure society. As upholders of the Constitution of the United States, the officers and defenders of this nation should be excluded from these laws and restrictions of gun
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (Head). To this day, the Supreme Court, backed by the federal government has not let the Second Amendment be encroached. The federal government is protecting one of our basic fundamental rights that are exercised by millions of Americans each day. Until the dangers of guns are magnified more than the benefits, the federal government should not restrict the use of guns; instead, the federal government should continue to keep guns out of criminals hands and give law abiding citizens the freedom of owning guns. Scientific studies have proved that millions of Americans own a weapon.
Civil Disobedience Henry David Thoreau accepted the motto, “That government is best which governs least”. What I feel that means is that too much power in government can feel like there is no freedom to live life or be successful in life. I think with the time period it was written in it meant similar to my opinion. Sometimes people working together is more sufficient than counting on the government. The government that governs least is one that lets the voices of the civilians be heard the most, it lets its citizens make their own decisions, and stays out of their affairs.
Nick Wright U.S. History Ms. Wilkinson May 6, 2011 The Powers of the Federal Government One issue in politics is the amount of power that the federal government should be allowed to have. One side believes that the government should be there, helping us, but we shouldn’t be able to notice their presence. The other side believes that the government should actively participate in the everyday lives of citizens. In the United States today, the power of our government tends to lean towards the former of the two. We know that the government is there, protecting us, providing for us, and ensuring that our lives are good.
