Stress in Combat Stress is defined as a mentally or emotionally distracting condition occurring because of difficult pressures. Millions and perhaps even billions suffer everyday from stress and its effects. Stress affects a person's physical health; usually the symptoms are increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, irritability, and depression. This plague can affect all ages and both genders. The main reason why stress is so dangerous is because it can be fatal to a person's health. Not only can stress lead to many heart diseases, but also it could make a person panic-stricken. Although stress may look unconquerable or inevitable, it is possible to control it. There are many different ways for managing and limiting a person's stress. Stress in combat is a little different than just stress by itself. Stress in combat may be due to being away from your significant other, your children, and/or your family and friends. If its your first deployment and find it hard to be away from your loved ones. there are many different ways to reduce this stress on a day to day basis. One of the many and most simplest way is to email your loved ones everyday. though we may be in afghanistan there are many places on base where you can access a computer with internet or if you have your own laptop theres also wifi available. I know myself and other marines utilizes this tool to keep in contact with love ones back home. Other ways are calling them on your down time, skype, or an old fashioned written letter mailed to them. Whatever works best for you. If the stress has to do with fellow co-workers/marines I recommend that you pull that person/marine to the side and resolve your issues. Also I will recommend that you utilize the use of your chain of command. Being in an combat environment. Combat is sudden, intense, and life threatening. It is the marines job to
