He attempts to grab the older sister, and she fought with him to get away from his grip he then proceeds to the other sister attacking her and throwing her onto the ground and begins raping her. Being a man of color talking to a white woman could be one the worst crimes any African American male could commit back in 17th century. Since he did not write his own confession, the validity of the story is questionable. It is very possible that the author could have made up his own version on what happened on that fateful day. Nunu son was with the system because he was the head of all the slaves and was the one who had to punish the slaves if they got in trouble. Towards the end of the movie they plan a way to get out and Nunu’s son was not involved because he was a head slave and followed God. When they first started to pan out the attack and plan to get out shola did not want to help out but soon she did because she was getting abused by her master and at night she was raped. Shola’s love shango knew that Nunu’s son was going to be a problem and would get in there way so he made up a poison that would make him sick and hallucinate. In the end that turned out to be a problem when they were exacuting there attack, before they could attack and leave he started to attack his mother and killed her at the river.
Negroes up North have no respect for people. They think they can get away with anything” (132). After being warned by her mom to pretend she did not know about Emmett, Ann is forced to suppress her feelings of anger towards the white people who committed this act. However, she also starts to feel resentment grow for the colored people who pretended to not care about his death. This anger at the Caucasian race for the inequality of the races eventually spurred Ann to join the NAACP, a group put together to fight racism and fight for equal rights.
How does Harper Lee use minor characters in To Kill A Mockingbird to explore some of the main concerns of the novel? 1) Harper Lee used Dolphous Raymond to explain how racism was at the time. Raymond could not be himself because people would judge him because he had a negro wife and children. 2) Harper Lee used Aunt Alexandra and Mrs. Dubose to explain how people were biased. Scout could not do anything without Aunt Alexandra and Mrs. Dubose criticizing what Scout was wearing, doing, and behaving.

The men in both cases were thought to be guilty simply because they were black. Mayella Ewell was Bob Ewell’s abused, lonely and unhappy daughter. She was the women who Tom Robinson was accused of raping. Like many other southern blacks, toms was not educated and thought to be less of a person by whites. Whether Mayella knew it or not, her accusations against Mr. Robinson were like picking a fight with a man who is not capable of fighting back.
Everyone at some point in their life develops a mask to hide their true feelings, this is often encouraged. In to kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, several characters can be interpreted far enough to see through their mask and into the underlining truth of their thoughts. Dolphus Raymond, a seemingly drunk and disorderly man is later exposed as a man who lies about the reasons for his appearance and activities so they can be accepted by the shallow people of Maycomb, Alabama. “You little folks won’t tell on me now, it’d ruin my reputation if you did” (Lee 227). Raymond speaks of how the children quickly learn that the drink that he always puts in his bag is actually coco-cola and he lies about that so people can understand why he is associating himself with the African-Americans.
As a white living in this County, I can see how visible and evident racial prejudice against the blacks has clouded the minds of many. Bob Ewell is one example of which racial prejudice has taken over his righteous mind. He had accused the innocent Tom Robinson for raping his daughter, Mayella Ewell. During the proceedings of the trial, however, was humiliated by Atticus Finch as he pointed the lies and flaws that lied in his testimony. Just yesterday, he had done another act which is hideous of mankind, taking revenge on Atticus Finch’s children, Jeremy Finch and Jean Louise Finch.
While black people struggle, the media constantly portrays them as animalistic brutes. In turn, it reinforces the stereotype in the minds of white people, which in turn feeds their fear and contempt of black people, particularly black men. Fear is a powerful motivator and white people justify segregation as the only way to protect white society from the “animalistic brutes.” Bigger is well aware of the instant judgments white people make when they see a black man. For example, when Bigger goes to the Dalton’s house, he thinks, “Suppose a police officer saw him wandering in a white neighborhood like this? It would be thought that he was trying to rob or rape somebody,” (44).
