Sproxil-Sproxil Sproxil is a privately backed company that was founded in early 2000s by Ashifi Gogo. The company's mission is to verify counterfeit or genuineness of a product by attaching a label with a scratch-off code to a tangible product . This code can then be texted to Sproxil and within seconds a response of authenticity is received by the consumer. Gogo had determined that the world's cell phone usage had become so widespread that this service would be something consumers would want. In 2006, the business was on the brink of closing when the company developed an emergent strategy within the prescription drug world. In February 2013, Sproxil was ranked seventh in Fast Company's World's Most Innovative Companies, outranking Google, Amazon and Apple. In addition, Sproxil was named #1 on Fast Company's list of Most Innovative Companies in Healthcare. Other awards that Sproxil has received are Clinton's Global Initiative Outstanding Commitment Award in 2009 and the IBM SmartCamp Boston Award. As of March 2013, Sproxil has processed over 3.8 million verifications in multiple markets. In this paper, I will explain Sproxil's patented product, their emergent strategy, and their future plans. Realizing that cell phone usage was becoming ubiquitous, Sproxil developed a Mobile Product Authentication (MPA-TM). This program allows basic cell phone users the ability to verify a product's genuineness by texting a code from the Sproxil label attached to the tangible product. Not only are consumers benefitting from this service, but so are the companies from fraudulent copies of their products.
