Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen. Today I would like to talk to you about a charity. This charity is called NSPCC and stands for National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. This charity basically does what it says on the tin, it helps children who are being harmed in any way. However us as a community cannot do this all on our own, we also need your help which is I would like to speak to you about this charity. What is cruelty to children? Cruelty to or child abuse, is behaviour that causes significant harm to a child. All forms of cruelty are damaging – it can be harder to recover from the emotional impact than from the physical effects which is why I think it is crucial that you are educated on this considering you guys are at such a young age. It is estimated that at least one child is killed each week by their parents or carers. Therefore more suffer serious harm at the hands of those who are supposed to be caring for them. We know that in two thirds of the cases the child abuse goes unreported at the time and many children are forced to suffer in silence. Cruelty to children is evil, it’s in humane, it makes me sick to my stomach, but it happens. Do you normally hear a child crying at night? Do you ever see any unusual behaviour happening in your neighbour’s house? If so you must say! That is the most important thing you can do. Child abuse is serious.
