There is the theme of violence and brutality running throughout the novel Lord of the Flies. It appears very early in the novel in a form of a game when Ralph “machined-gunned Piggy”, and lasts until the very end when Jack and his tribe are trying to kill Ralph. So through Golding’s use of language I am going to analyze the scene which I think is the most frightening moment of violence and brutality in the novel - Simon’s death. Golding uses imagery to present the boys’ violent and brutal act in killing Simon. “At once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock.
Jack is telling the boys that Ralph is a coward and doesn’t deserve being leader. Jack is trying to manipulate the boys into thinking that Ralph isn’t the proper leader and Jack is trying to overthrow Ralph because wants power. This expresses that the darkness of humanity will destroy society for power and will do anything to get it. These quotes show that the darkness of humanity can destroy societies proven by Golding in the Lord of the
In one scene the men in Bricksville try to lynch Colonel Sheburn, Colonel Sheburn saw that the town was getting ready to attack him, so he begins to give a speech saying “The idea of you lynching anybody! It’s amusing. The idea of you thinking you had pluck enough to lynch a man! (161). In this speech Colonel Sheburn attacks the cowardice of the mob, for they don’t have the courage to attack him one on one.
Argument: The scene where Col. Bat Guano arrests Executive Officer Lionel Mandrake is used to dramatize the duality of “individual thought” versus “blindly following authority”, “government control” versus “individual action”. Kubrick uses Mandrake’s character to show the ineffectual actions of one man against the colossal organization of government as a whole. According to tradition, the mandrake root screams as it is pulled from the earth, causing death to anyone who heard it. Kubrick directed Mandrake’s character to be a desperate individual trying to be heard and, if believed, could save lives, and if ignored, would lead to world annihilation.

This creates conflict between the monster and Victor as the monster soon begins to hate him for abandoning him. Furthermore, in chapter 16 we see conflict between the creator and the created again: “you belong to my enemy—to him I have sworn eternal revenge; you shall be my first victim”. The monster’s anger towards his creator is channelled into revenge as he kills his brother. Shelley uses the language device direct address to depict this. The pronoun “you” is repeated, this makes the reader
Bain and Hitler wanted to eliminate a certain group of people in each of their situations, to make their city or country better than what it currently was. In the movie The Dark Knight Rises, Bane a main villain in the film proclaims that his revolution's enemies are the rich and the corrupt, who he contends are oppressing "the people", and fooling them with myths of opportunity. By him trying to eliminate the rich and corrupt he is influencing the poor and criminals to join him in his destiny. Bane has many different public speeches, for example he has a speech that talks about “the people” running their own city and that “police will survive as they learn to serve true justice”. The speech helps create an army for Bane, people that fallow under him that want “true justice”, the poor and prisoners are an example.
