Family Guy is an animated comedy about the Griffin family, who lives in Quahog, Rhode Island. The show features several scenes of pop culture references and makes fun of every race as well as celebrities. Gender Socialization is very apparent within the script. Peter Griffin is the ignorant father who does crazy things whenever he wants to and somehow he always finds a way to justify his actions. Lois is Peter's wife, a stay at home mom with no patience for her family's crazy ways.
My senses of sarcasm and wit are definitely nowhere near as insane as those of John Bender, but they are two characteristics that I definitely believe I have in common with him to some extent. Another thing that really attracts me to the character of John Bender is his hidden sense of vulnerability. In the film, it is learned that a lot of his attitude and anger stems from his unstable home life that includes an abusive father. He may pose an attitude toward Principal Vernon, but when it is just the two of them in the scene where Vernon personally threatens him, Bender has a look of slight defeat on his face, and seems almost hurt by the personal attack. I like that he isn’t afraid to show this defenselessness, even if he is alone in a closet.
She uses different numbers and awards to show how devoted the shows fans are and how well the show is actually doing. Peacocke talks about her own struggle with the shows offensive humor but then now she realizes the use of humor in the jokes. The author uses different segments of the show to show how although the jokes are, at first glance, offensive the hidden meaning is simply "pointing out the weaknesses and defects of U.S. society in a mocking and sometimes intolerable way." (263). Antonia Peacocke uses short parts of from different authors to shape her argument, agreeing with some and pointing fun at others.
Audience: Jersey Shore Fans Dear MTV Producers, Unfortunately this is not a fan letter but more of an evaluative letter as to why I think Jersey Shore should be canceled. Jersey Shore should be cancelled because it is tiring and the same continuous stuff always takes place. The cast has gone away, come back, gone abroad, come back, and when they do, rotate their outings between the same hangouts. Really, though, how many times can we watch Pauly D and Vinny rearrange bedroom furniture? Truly though, Jersey Shore is a joke and it's amazing the amount of people who watch it; mostly people with nothing better to do.
show I love, but that not many people understand, falls into that category. South Park is more than just a television show. It is an outlet in which moral messages can be channeled through, in a humorous way that we can all understand and relate to. The key element of South Park is its satirical humor style. Many episodes are based off of real-world problems, and are solved through extensive use of satire.
The movie had humor in it which was distributed though-out the movie by many of the characters. For example, Wallace Shawn played an odd man named Vizzini and his character would keep saying, “Inconceivable” for just about everything. Even though everyone added his or her own little bit of humor, these two gentlemen were the ones who both with a shared sense of humor, which increased the level of comedy in this movie. Both Westley and Inigo had a knack for talking or joking around when fighting or dueling others. In most cases when someone would fight they wouldn’t talk, but these two couldn’t help it to talk while fighting.
The movie is based around a young rapper called Jimmy B-Rabbit Smith, who is stuck a rut and is struggling to make a success of his life. He has been brought up with racial abuse and is surrounded my violence and drugs everyday of his life. He lives with his mum and her boyfriend in a trailer park due to his dead end job. His family doubt this potential and don’t offer him a great deal of support to achieve his dreams. Life does start to look brighter when he meets an old friend called Wink who has contacts who can get Jimmy deal to record a demo of his music that can possibly lead to a rap career.
Lennie faced a lot of dilemmas in “Of Mice and Men” and Cosmo has faced some dilemmas in his show. Lennie was faced with the choice of doing right or wrong, the tricky thing is he doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong. He just remembers (sometimes) what George tells him. Lennie doesn’t know what is right and what is wrong so when a woman yells because he is pulling her hair too hard he covers her mouth and suffocated her. The reason he did this was because George told him not to mess with her and if he does he could get them in a lot of trouble and possibly ruin their dream of having a farm together.
We see a variety of responses but it is the inability of the majority to understand the roots of the plague that prevents them from undergoing personal transformation. The religious dogma that is directed towards them leaves them ignorant and inflexible their own ideas about God and their place within society for themselves. This causes many to direct their devastation and fear to misunderstood characters that disagree with societal conventions. The crazed mob that accuses the Gowdies of witchcraft exemplifies the notion that faith blinds people to reality in ‘Year of Wonder’. Faith in God is easily converted into superstition amongst the ignorance of the uneducated.
Pamela Lora Ap Literature Period 2 10/29/09 “Oedipus Rex” Previously I have mentioned we have common flaws, one flaw that was pionted out in the play was selfishness. One of the characters that had that flaw was Teiresias, the soothsayer. In the play Oedipus calls Teiresias to come and see if he could see who was the murderer of king Laios. But Teiresias saw more than that but he didn’t want to be the one to tell Oedipus the truth. So Teiresias kept rebelling against Oepidus to let him go and not to bother him.
