A Journey Amongst Friends I was fortunate enough to go to nursing school with my best friend Harley. We had gone to school since Elementary school. I knew that if we did it together that I would make it to graduation. I was right we did make it to graduation. We had some difficulties and it was a very stressful time in our lives, but we made it.
I have all three of them with me now, and they are old enough to understand how important going to school is. I want to be a good role model for them. I want them to look up to me and feel motivated to follow in my steps when they are older. My personal long-term goal is that I eventually want to obtain my masters in nursing. As a junior in high school, I am approaching some very big life decisions fast. What influenced my decision to attend graduate school? The purpose of this paper is to discuss what influenced my decision to return to school to pursue a graduate degree; some facilitators/barriers; educational goals; expectations of this course and how it will prepare me in becoming a nurse administrator. During my 20 years as a Registered Nurse with an associate’s degree, I have worked in practically every area of nursing. Some areas posed more challenging than others but all have played a major role in my decision today. I realize that an undergraduate education and years of experience alone will not afford you the necessary skills to participate in the global economy.

Katherine died in 1904 from a brain hemorrhage. She would never know it but, “The Awakening” would be an inspiration to women around the world. Her novel was republished in the 1960’s and today is required reading material for anyone taking a women’s history class. Her eye opening depiction of woman’s wants, our needs and desires, her insight to a world Katherine herself probably couldn’t even fully understand, was and is inspirational.
Characteristics of a transformational leader are providing vision and direction, gains trust from others, communicates expectations and critical purposes, motivate and influence rationality, advises, and guides individuals (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). I tend to be creative with the task given to me and I have the ability to think outside the box. Although I have a high attention to detail, my critical thinking and problem-solving skills make me an effective leader amongst my peers. “[T]ransformational leaders also show greater agreement among top managers about the organization’s goals, which yields superior organizational performance” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). According to a study conducted by Gong, Huang, and Farh (2009), employees who work under transformational leaders had more self-confidence in their ability to be more creative and perform higher (pgs.
