The high crime rates make it difficult for Mr. & Mrs. J to allow their young children outside to play, and transportation restrictions create difficulties for obtaining healthy and fresh foods. The situation that this family is in creates vulnerability for all of them; no personal transportation for food or medical care and confinement in a high crime, low-income
It is very difficult traversing the rocky terrain. It is much colder in the mountains that I had anticipated and it just makes the journey seem much longer. I hope I can meet someone that I can talk to. On the route I can see and hear other travelers but I have not spoken to any of them yet. I was warned not to talk to too many people because there are many thieves and killers.
In the case of roads, nitrogen in exhaust fumes can be beneficial to the growth of some species of wildflower, which encourages them to spread further along the protective area of the grass verge, which is an area almost untouched by human interference due to its proximity to heavy traffic, therefore meaning that plant species have a lot of freedom to grow and spread. This in turn then encourages an increase in plant, bird and animal life along the routeway, creating a diverse ecosystem - such as along the M4 corridor, which has become a home to kestrels and other birds of prey due to the increase in the number of insects and small mammals who inhabit the area. In addition, some human activities along routeways can affect the types of plant species that can be found there. For example, the spreading of salt/grit on roads in icy conditions can lead to halophiles (salt-loving plants) inhabiting the area, and as many grass verges are regularly maintained by weeding/mowing, natural succession can sometimes be restricted due to the fact that plant species are not allowed to grow naturally and can sometimes be managed by the use of chemical pesticides, possibly resulting in a plagioclimax. Furthermore, afforestation by groups such as the highways agency (who have planted over 1.8 billion
Cell phones that have limited coverage areas aren't dependable. As long as your using your phone in a large city that has plenty of cell phone towers it should work correctly. However, this isn't always the case, there are plenty of ways the radio signals can be disturbed or blocked, especially if you are too far away from a tower. So, one of the cons of using a cell phone instead of a landline is, they are less dependable. A huge perk of having a landline phones is that it works everywhere, but cell phones don’t always work whether it be because of coverage issues or other problems.
Most of obstacles cannot be controlled due to the high costs. The fence dividing a car path with the path could be placed to provide safety but the costs involved in the process of building a fence are extremely high. Other quite expensive measures are replacing few pairs of shiny doors with automatic ones and smoothing down tables to provide safety inside the H block (where the dining room is placed). It could take a long period of time before all these measures would have been done because school is not supported with such a big amount of money. Moreover, there are many other, even more important measures which should be done first.
Growing up on the streets can put people in very rough situations unimaginable to some. Ponyboy said, “Sixteen years on the streets and you can learn a lot! But all the wrong things, not the things you want to learn.” This means that people who grew up on the streets are usually forced to learn about things they may not need or want to learn in order to survive, which prevents them from learning things that could help them grow and advance in life. This is true in The Outsiders, written by S.E Hinton, where we’re able to see how growing up on the streets can affect someone’s values and way of thinking. In this novel, Johnny’s demeanor and struggles solving conflicts show how living on the streets can impact the way a person develops.
Many of the riders complained that, “instead of riding inside trolleys, it would be quicker to walk across the roofs of the nose-to-tail cars at rush hour to reach a destination on time” (225). Eventually conditions downtown became so congested and intolerable that Boston then began thinking of a
If I get the choice of being inside or outside, my choice is always outside. We love to spend as much time outside as possible; camping, fishing, four-wheeling, etcetera. There is something about waking up in the woods to the fresh air, getting up and smelling and seeing the nature all around you. Back to the subject of four-wheeling, we love our trucks. A great way to tell if someone belongs to the redneck
Plaguing the sidewalks and alley ways of most major cities, the homeless are often looked down upon with tattered clothes, lack of personal grooming and hygiene which leaves them less appealing. They can often be found standing outside the supermarket or convenient mart; they are even at the exits of interstates asking for change
Normally, when we are on the bus, we can see many parks with plenty of trees around the road. This can be substantiated by the high green space ratio in Singapore, which was almost 70%. Besides, Singapore also has cleaner air with average PSI less than 50. Because of all these statistics, Singapore is known as the ‘garden city’ in the world. Besides, the building of new gardens is never stopped in Singapore.
