On June 7, 2012 I visited the Reginald Lewis Museum located 830 E. Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. The Museum hours of operation are from 10:00 am to 5:00pm Wednesday through Friday and from 12:00 pm to 5:00pm on Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday and holidays. General admission to the museum is $8.00 however, there are group rates but you need to contact the museum directly to arrange and parking which is adjacent to the building is convenient and the cost range from $3.50 to $14.00 depends how long you stay at the museum. Overall the location is great right in the heart of downtown Baltimore great tourist location. This exhibit was chilling because you were able to walk into a dark room and witness a tree replica of the lynching that took place during that era through mirrors. Most of us that viewed this exhibit were dispirited but in actuality it was the truth of how many of slaves were treated during that period. Whenever you have discussions about this topic, view pictures or most importantly look at videos; it always lures huge discussions because it is hard to believe how African Americans were treated for hate crimes for not completing job assignments or even having an opinion. Bottom many of the slaves by reviewing the exhibit just wanted to be heard, having an opinion in protecting their families. The Reginald Lewis Museum is definitely a great place for the entire family there is a great deal of history in Maryland that we just are unaware of as citizens that African Americans contributed to the development of education, the development of Canton, Maryland and the political positions we have taken over the years and still strong today.
