Political correctness has gone too far in Australia. The term political correctness refers to not using words or behaviour which won’t offend any group of people. The purpose of being “politically correct” is so as to not harm others while talking to them. By doing so, this "trend" in society has been taken out of proportion and limits our freedom of speech to some degree, primary schools and kindergartens changing the words of nursery rhymes and Australian traditions are being altered just to avoid offending others. A black sheep is often referred as either the four legged animal who’s considered as rare for its production of black wool or just the odd family member. Children in primary schools and kindergardens are here to have fun and singing for their own entertainment. What would primary children know? For all they know it’s just a nursery rhyme which isn’t supposed to harm any one, but “Michael Platow who is a social psychologist at the Australian National University says children don't associate the black sheep with a black man from The Sunday Mail (QLD) article; “Racist” Baa baa black sheep put out to pasture.” in February 27, 2011. This is seen when Stewie, the baby, is in a conversation with Brian, the dog about his relationship troubles. Brian then makes the offensive comment “ I can’t hide from this relationship. It’s my responsibility to deal with it. I mean, what kind of man would I be if I ran off now?” to give the line a bit more context while Stewie takes offence and tells Brian that he’s a “bad dog” replying with the answer “Well, you’d be a black man.” Some may take offence to this because it has the term “Black” offending African- Americans or people with darker skin who can empathize. Family guy is just a comedy and humorous T.V animated show to entertain teenagers and adults. This show regularly takes shots at a few races—Africian-AMercians, Asians, Jews, Hispanics and yet no one gets upset. “But what's amazing is that something like this can go to air here – and in the US – and barely cause a ripple.” says Craig Platt from the Sydney Morning Herald article “Racism?
