1) The content I am critically viewing is an article written by Paul Bedard for The Examiner. The content creators are the author of the article Paul Bedard and secretary of the senate Nancy Erickson. Nancy provides the information that this article is based off of. Paul writes his article using the content and statistics that Nancy released from the secretary of the senate. The goal of this article is to present the information to the American public that the Senate is not getting the job done when it comes to passing public laws. The author is trying to make the democrats look lazy using information that was released from the democrats themselves. This article is written for an audience who opposes the Democratic Party. These are some of the hardest times in American history. I do not want the men and women in the senate to be slacking off. I want the people who work for the American government to be working as hard as possible to fix our country’s problems. I really don’t care which party is in the senate but I am aware this is written to make the democrats look bad. The thing that gets me is statistics are statistics and numbers don’t lie. I feel that someone else’s reaction would be something that is based off of what party they are from. If they were democrats they would be angry that the democrats are being made to look bad. The first reason is economic situations. One is able to afford to update their technology while the other cannot afford to have a computer or smart phone. Economic situation plays a large role in why many people cannot rise and become information elite. To be information elite does not mean that a person has to be good with technology. They may be smart hard working people but they do not have the access to information and tools, such as a car for travel or proper guidance in school to give them the right information to be more information elite. Knowledge is power so if they do not have money, education or guidance many people with potential to be information elite cannot reach that potential. Education is a big part in why one is more information elite. One actively participates in a culture that thrives off of technology while the other can get bye without it. I feel that many people who can afford and can get access to new technologies often don’t because they don’t see a reason why they need it. My friend’s parents are older and they cannot afford anything to make them more information elite but even if they could they would probably say they don’t really need it. They have fewer advantages than say, my dad or someone who is more advanced than he is. I noticed that my dad has become a little less social then he used to be and this could be because most of his communicating is no longer face-to-face.
