Old Majors similarities to Karl Marx Old Major is like an exact counterpart of Karl Marx of the Russian Revolution. Karl Marx's The Communist Manifesto and Old Major's speech both lead to an uprising of their people. Both however died before they could see their plan in effect. Old Major, in the story, influenced his people through his vision and theories of equality of all, and communism. Old Major uses his theories of these the same way that Karl Marx did, and that was to sway people to believe in you and your beliefs. Old Major and Karl Marx are both so alike, but are also different, as one was a pig, and the other one was a real person. They both help there societies out greatly, but never get to see the rewards of their work. The Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx and Old Majors speech in the book are both great sources of what communism is. Communism is a stateless, classless society in which all are equal, and have a common ownership of everything in that certain society. Old Major shows communism when he says "Weak or strong, clever or simple, we animals are all brother" (31). This shows that all animals should join together, even though animals like cats and mice hate each other, as cats attack mice all the time, they still have to get along, to overtake the humans. Karl Marx speaks of communism in The Communist Manifesto throughout the whole thing, and Old Major brings out the basic aspects of Marx's beliefs. Old Major wanted there to be equality of all animals, and Karl Marx said something to the words of "That when all are equal there would be no ruler over anyone since ownership of everything would be mutual of all the people in that society". Old Major also says "Man serves the interest of no creature except himself". He's saying that man, or the hierarchy in Marx's view, don't care about the animals, the lower class in Marx's view, except
