My retirement will come when I feel that I have served my purpose and made a difference in hundreds of children’s lives. I will not judge my retirement by my age but more my emotion, when my passion is no longer there that is when I know it is time to pass the torch. Once retired I want to spend time with my wife, my kids, and hopefully many grandchildren; my wife and I want a large family but know in this day and age the expense is so great it makes
Second, The inescapability of death; no one can live forever so benefit the time you have and let every moment count. Last, some journeys/quest can have a significant effect; you might arise some character, and undergo some task but all might have a positive effect in the
Although evolution plays a role in how long you live, he plans to live life while still in his prime. Emanuel states 2 different points, “Living too long/death is a loss.”(75). Death can contribute the way others remember you and the impact you made on their lives. Death can deprive you from the people you love and time spent. Living too long on the other hand, leaves a negative impact as well because there are terminally ill individuals out there who need the good, compassionate death so they would no longer suffer being alive and having the illness drag them down.
That void in my life is no longer there once I finish that book; the book has given me a concrete story to hold on to and understand and remember forever. On the other hand, there are so many aspects of our lives that are uncertain and not there forever. A recent friend’s brother suddenly and unexpectedly passed away, making me realize that my own sister could be gone in an instant if she is not careful. Although I know that if she were to pass away a huge part of my life and heart would die with her, my identity would be the same. Her passing would shape my identity, just as her life has, but in no way is she a percentage of my identity.
Anything that we can do without and produce for ourselves will not only strengthen our country, but will also help our children and grandchildren live out the same pleasures we have been able to enjoy. Dr. Nobles commented in the first week of our class that we as people needed to evaluate what we would be willing to give up in order to sustain the life we have. That’s what sustainability is. It is defined as “capable of being maintained” but to me it seems better defined as giving up unimportant conveniences to maintain what is truly best for the well-being of not only one’s self, but also the greater good of the
I plan to make sure events run smoothly. That is one of my main goals. Homecoming is our responsibility and I want to make ticket sales easy when we are selling them and keep them organized. From what I have seen every year its very last minute and done haphazardly. At times, money has been lost as well.
Cabrera, 1 Hannah Cabrera Block 4 Awp 9/21/11 Life Death is only the beginning. In “The Epic of Gilgamesh”, translated by Stephen Mitchell, the meaning of life is mainly death. Gilgamesh goes searching for eternal life and discovers something better the meaning of life, in “The Epic of Gilgamesh” the book portrays the meaning of life to be that death is inevitable. The thought that life can be restored after death leads Gilgamesh into the quest for everlasting life. For an example, when Gilgamesh’s friend Enkidu dies he is left broken hearted and thinks, “If my grief is violent enough perhaps he will come back to life” (Mitchell, 445).
The fear of death isn’t anything new to our modern culture, so I feel we could all relate to that. I’m sure at one point in everyone’s life they have thought about death and how it would affect the lives of family and friends, which is a devastating and a sad thought. The difference between society now and Gilgamesh is that as we grow older to mature and not only except life but live it to the fullest, we have obtained the opportunity to except death as well. We might not know when it’s coming or necessarily like it but we know for a fact that we will all perish one day and life will continue on without us. Gilgamesh couldn’t except that he could not live forever and that he was 1/3 mortal which brought him the emotion of fear, but
He offered what he thought was the most beautiful ladies and the most enticing. Over time Manson had gained the one thing he had wanted all of his life, a family. He and his family would move around a lot which allowed him to be able to maintain more and more control over his family. He would encourage them to let time just disappear, to live in the “now” moment. He would encourage them to be someone different every day.
Georgiana knew what would be the most likely outcome of her husband’s experiment on her, yet was willing to submit to it to make him happy. Georgiana has known, all along, that the birthmark was a symbol of her mortality. No human or living thing is ever perfect or without flaws, no matter how much Aylmer believed Georgiana could be, her birthmark signified her eventual
