Another reason why the First Crusade was successful was because of its efficient leadership. Leaders such as Robert of Flanders, who organised the foraging and gathering of materials at Jerusalem; and Robert of Normandy, who was one of the great failures of the crusade but yet scoured a victorious charge at Ascalon, greatly contributed to the success of the First Crusade. Perhaps the greatest contributor to the success of the First Crusade in terms of leadership was Bohemund. Bohemund was considered the greatest leader of the First Crusade. He was an able general, whose greatest strength was his aggressiveness.
Everybody has different values. So with that in mind, conflict will occur when individuals or nations have a lack of acceptance and understanding of these different values. Conflicts with differing interests occur when individuals or nations combat for their personal or nation goals as a whole, often ignoring the organizational goals and well-being, or other nation’s goals and well-being. Scarce resources can cause a lot of conflict. Especially between two countries.
Blind, Greedy, and Corrupt In the novels “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald and “The Tragedy of Macbeth” by William Shakespeare, the main characters of the stories are blinded by their own goals and ambitions. Both the Macbeth and Gatsby have goals that cause them to become unaware of what the consequences of their actions may be. This unawareness is what eventually leads to both characters downfall. In the case of both characters, once they get a sense that their goals are near, they become more driven and eager to fully achieve their goals. This hunger causes them to make mistakes along their way which get in the way of their dreams becoming a reality.
Imagery is used to show Plath as an aggressive person, such as through the line “smash it into kindling”. The emotive line “The bloody end of the skein” creates the sense of abandonment and eternal suffering that by no means that one could be aware of. It suggests that Plath’s mind, the labyrinth, was something that Hughes struggled to understand, and propose that her psyche was beyond his control. He also utilises speech in The Minotaur, creating a sense of truth in Hughes’ part. While he is not seen as a saint within the poem (he remarks in a sarcastic matter to Plath in the poem), he positions the reader to empathise with him, painting the image that he is the placid one in the relationship, and the one who encourages her to embark on her creative pursuits “Get that shoulder under your stanzas/ And we’ll be away.”.
The production of the Mineola twins by Paula Vogel was extremely confusing I also believe that the director did a poor job of presenting this performance for several reasons like acting stage Setting and makeup/costumes and acting which I felt kept the audience lost and confused in my opinion the show itself just seemed to be rushed. Overall it was a catastrophe. One thing that really disappointed me was the acting. The actors and actress seemed as if they had a really hard time relating to the character that they were playing. Which in opinion created non beliveable moments throughout the play for me.
Inevitable tensions however characterize such relationships and often lead to a continuous power struggle between two opposing parties. Whilst the authority seeks to sustain its influence, individuals desire change in the face of suppression of their values. Kesey’s “Cuckoo’s Nest” examines one’s struggle against the authority’s repressive tendencies while Shakespeare Retold’s “Taming” explores one’s use of an unclear distinction between appearance and reality in defeating a misogynist authority figure. Each text constructs a conflicting relationship between the individual and authority which is characterized by the individual’s inability to accept the tyrannical values promoted by authoritarian
With the "dark" and cosy lighting at the beginning it juxtaposes to the opposite spectrum and by this the audience becmes aware of this tension that grows within the Birling's as each character finds a snippet of information that they'd rather not hear. Moreover, Priestly portrays this growing tension with the use of the characters desire to discover the truth behind Goole's case after he's left. They had minimal effection towards Eva Smith, but they still want to ring the infirmary, showcasing their guilt and shared tension towards the case. Evidently they want to change the subject of their own wrong doing (such as having an affair and rejecting Daisy from charity aid) and continue to ponder over the reliability of the
Beowulf Beowulf an epic, created during the Anglo-Saxon period, shows the qualities of an epic hero; noble birth, bravery, and choices that affect a nation. Beowulf, a complex character, showing all characteristics of an epic hero, demonstrates these traits in the slaying of horrible monsters. He supports being an epic hero because of his noble birth making him very courageous and helping him to secure the futures of nations. Beowulf’s noble birth allows him to be an epic hero and, known by everyone, can easily do the things he desires to do. "My lord, the great king of the Danes, commands me/To tell you that he knows of your noble birth..." (pg.43 ln.127).
Franklin D Roosevelt was very clever in a sense. Roosevelt always kept the people on his side by telling them that its for their benefit even though sometimes it affected the people of the United States badly. But that was one of the reason he was a good leader, because he kept the people on his side all throughout the war for constant
