According to Mr. Lofguis, NVCC currently uses Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Oracle Database 11G and SQL Server 2005 software for database administration. Oracle Database 11G is currently used by payroll and student/faculty information. SQL Server 2005, however, is not in use because it was only purchased for a project that was cancelled. There is no mention of any Firewall or anti-virus software installed on the network. If NVCC wishes to create an e-commerce website for the bookstore, consideration needs given to a virtual shopping cart and SSL encryption for consumer protection.
