Ensure you include features and components of the system, as well as training and staff needs for this system. Address issues such as information security, data storage, maintenance and backup systems. Be creative in your design as you would have to highlight the benefits of this system in a presentation to your Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). INTRODUCTION A nursing information system supports the use and documentation of nursing processes and activities and provides tools for managing the delivery or nursing care.
[pic] Master of Science in Nurse Leadership Program Description Master of Science in Nurse Leadership program prepares nurses for leadership roles in today’s rapidly changing health care delivery systems. The program is a part-time or full-time course of study consisting of graduate nursing core courses and leadership courses taken with Master of Science Leadership (MSL) students. While the graduate nursing core provides essential content for the Master of Nursing in Education program, the coursework in leadership presents contemporary leadership issues related to success in the workplace, provides an overview of leadership styles and the functioning of organizations in the health care system, as well as the health care system

Nurse Leader Interview Nurse leadership has the distinct responsibility to manage “challenging workplace and workforce issues” (Cummings, et al., 2009, p. 1). In the past, nurse administrators believed that leadership was simply the process of ensuring the completion of specific tasks while providing care to patients. As the nursing profession grew, nurse leaders are now held responsible and accountable for financial, administrative, and patient care management. Future nurse leaders must become educated on various leadership styles that can be used independently or in collaboration depending upon each situation’s needs and the people involved. The objective of this paper is to present the views of a nurse administrator regarding leadership and the application of various leadership styles.
Hospitals are using more unlicensed assistive personnel to assist in patient care. This brings up an important part of delegation which consists of understanding all staff member’s job titles, roles, and ability to carry out tasks. The safety of patients is very important in providing the care they need and deserve. The registered nurse is considered to be a team leader in the process of delegation. The ultimate goal of nursing delegation is to provide the most efficient, effective, quality care in the time frame the nurse is given.
The CNL assesses patient outcomes, assesses the possibility of loss or injury, brings the best practice evidence to the bedside, and improves the overall collaboration of care across the interdisciplinary team (Moore and Leahy, 2012). The CNL assumes a role as a source of support for the interdisciplinary patient care association. The degree of the CNL surfaced around 1999 at Maine Medical Center in an attempt to keep expert nurses at the patient’s bedside (Tabor, Quirk, Wilson, Gallant, Swan, and Manchester, 2008). The acknowledgement of the need for leadership at the point of care was pivotal in producing the CNL role guided by the AACN reports. (Baernholdt and Cottingham, 2011).
In nursing, it allows a nurse to instruct a competent co-worker or health-care member to perform specific duties in his or her place. If done properly, delegation will allow work to be done more proficiently by the health-care team, but it will also allow patients to benefit from the expertise of various staff members. In relation to nursing delegation, there are two main legislations that govern it: The Regulated Health Profession Act, 1991 (RHPA) and The Nursing Act, 1991. The RHPA “sets out two elements: a scope of practice statement, and a series of controlled or authorized acts for each profession” (CNO, 2013a, p. 3). A controlled act is defined “as acts that could cause harm if performed by those who do not have the knowledge, skill and judgment to perform them” (CNO, 2013a, p.4).
It is understood how interdisciplinary collaborations are very meaningful in providing care in this healthcare system. Nurses are involved in the participation of caring, safety, and the daily socio-economic realities of the patients we care for and their families. They make sure that the responsibility of our patients care, and safety relies completely on us. As nurses, it’s our job, to ensure them that the care given is within our scope of practice and that the quality of care is presented as well. This report of the IOM has made the author realize the importance of education, leadership roles, and the qualities of a leader.
Question 5: How do you facilitate patient-centered care in your practice? I will incorporate the information attained by utilizing the mission statement of the facility I work in to give me direction as to how I will treat my patients. I as a staff nurse can provide patient-centered care in my practice by participating in activities such as bedside reporting and utilizing the knowledge I have been taught by SBAR training and utilizing medication reconciliation to deliver concise, accurate communication between other interdisciplinary team members. These are several of the the tools I have at my disposal to focus on and deliver patient- centered care. Question 6: How is cost containment addressed
